I feel like I’ve been learning recently what needs to take priority in my life.

This is my list of high priority things.

1. My time with the Father
2. My time with my husband
3. Everything else, in some kind of order

Everything else can be blurry as to what takes priority. I’m learning that if I’m tired, I need a nap. I’m learning that it’s ok if we need to cancel plans (or not make them/plan ahead better). If my watch says 3.5 days recovery time, I should give myself a break.

I’m learning that I love being in control of my own time being self-employed, having the freedom to run in the middle of the day or go for a ride. I’m learning to treasure the little moments with my 13 year-old cocker spaniel. I’m learning to prioritise my close circle of friends better (I think - @myfriends do let me know how I’m doing with this pls). I’m learning to loosen up. Be vulnerable. Be honest. I’m not perfect. I forget things. I don’t remember important details about my friends (sorry friends - it is never personal. I love you but my brain doesn’t seem to remember what you do for work or what you studied - I’ve only just learnt Luke’s job title).

I’m learning to do what I love. Get making stuff. Stop faffing about. Crack on. Stop doubting myself (stop doubting God).

After my first two priorities, the rest kind of get jumbled up. And they have to be discerned sometimes by the day. But I’m learning that when 1&2 are in place, it’s all a lot easier because “a cord of three strands is not easily broken”.

Feeling grateful for people, for the Lord, for our families, for slow morning coffees, for photographs to capture core memories, for David’s Tent, for friends who live in the Lake District, for lovely little Beeston, for small businesses, for people trusting me to take photos of them, for all the beautiful weddings we’ve been to, for all the lovely couples we’ve celebrated, for good food, for sunshine, for the life we have.

I’m learning that we can’t say yes to everything. It’s unsustainable and impossible. Grateful for you @lukedanielwalton for helping me see where we need to slow down, where we need to prioritise being 3 strands.

So that’s what I’ve been learning.

Did you know there’s a film photography exhibition in Nottingham city centre open until this Sunday 31st May?

My friend Emma has set up the Broadway gallery for all of us photography lovers. Her exhibition is titled ‘State of Being’ and features people simply being people.

We loved visiting and I took the opportunity to muck about with my new camera, so here’s some photography of photography.

Go see her exhibition by Sunday pals.

When it takes you 5 months to get a roll of disposable film developed but that means you get a delightful surprise at how well they turned out and feel so grateful for your pals and family who made your 30th birthday the best birthday you’ve ever had… so that’s lovely.
