🪄🧚 The Fairy Godmother of Motherhood
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We were the generation told that we could have it all

Work hard, be a good girl, get the grades, get the job and chase the promotion… and we did. Our careers became a big part of who we were.

Then we became mums, and quietly realised that no one had prepared us for this part.

There aren’t any promotions in motherhood, no external validations and even your mini stakeholder isn’t telling you, you have done a good job. Let’s face it, it’s the same days on repeat, the mental load no one sees and a version of you that feels harder to find.

And then something shifted… so many of us quietly ask ourselves ‘do I even want it all?’

I want to say this for every mum who has asked herself this… asking this question is not a failure! It’s not a crisis we need to hide.

Motherhood does change us, our values shift and what mattered before may not matter now and that is ok. Asking yourself is how you find your way back to yourself.

If you have been asking yourself this then I am here cheering you on 🙌👏👏

You don’t have to have the answers yet, it’s why I have created the space for you to be asked these questions.

Let me know if this resonates below 🩷🩷🩷 by @emmafordcoaching

Motherhood is changing how women think and what they value in life. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but it is going against the ‘societal norms’

Time and time again we brush over how hard motherhood can be and yet finally on mainstream tv we are starting to talk about it.

Motherhood brings up a lot and in different ways…
Not only can it be lonely, confusing and mundane at times there is an unsaid expectation that we are meant to enjoy every moment.

Yet the reality is far from that and it’s ok to feel like it this is why we have to talk about it by @emmafordcoaching

To the women before motherhood who felt like they knew who they were and had their s**t together… to now feeling like they don’t know who they are and what they truly want…

I know how that felt and now I help women get the clarity they need and deserve… so follow along if this is you 🩷 by @emmafordcoaching

One of the reasons why I pivoted my business, as a new mum we are thrown into the unknown. We are expected to crack on as if we aren’t managing a whole new life and ensuring our baby is safe. I found the shift really hard and found it lonely too. Which is why I am so passionate about talking to mums and creating a safe space where we can be open and honest and work through the challenges together. Because it is so important to have support at what can be a vulnerable time 🥰❤️ by @emmafordcoaching

I don’t think we talk enough about what actually happens when you become a mum.

Not just the practical stuff.

The identity shift.

The confidence wobble.

The feeling of trying to work out who you are while keeping everyone else afloat.

In this week’s episode of Unshakeable Talks, I sat down with Motherhood Empowerment Coach and Return to Work specialist, Emma Ford, and honestly, this conversation went in so many interesting directions.

We talk about:
🎙️ Why motherhood changes so much more than your schedule
🎙️ What returning to work is really like after maternity leave
🎙️ Why the idea of “having it all” might be setting women up to fail

We also get into matrescence, postnatal depression, loneliness, career changes, and the pressure women feel to bounce back as if nothing has changed.

One thing Emma said really stuck with me.

We need to be having MORE HONEST conversations.

Because if we’re only ever talking about the highlights, it’s no wonder so many women feel like they’re getting it wrong.

They’re not.

They’re just experiencing something huge that nobody can fully prepare you for.

Whether you’re a mum, thinking about becoming one, or managing women returning from maternity leave, there’s so much in this episode.

In this conversation with Motherhood Empowerment Coach and Return to Work Specialist, Emma Ford, we get into this thing called matrescence… which is basically the massive hormonal and identity shift that happens when you become a mum.

And honestly, the more I hear about it, the more it just makes sense of so many women I know (and my own experiences too).

Because it’s not just “new routine, new baby, carry on”.

It’s a full on identity shift.

Like adolescence, but no one really sits you down and explains it properly beforehand.

And I think that’s why so many women end up feeling a bit lost or like they’re not coping as well as they “should” be… when actually they’re just in the middle of something huge that we rarely talk about.

We also get into what it’s really like returning to work, why it can feel so unsupported, and how lonely new motherhood can be even when everything looks fine from the outside.

It’s one of those chats that will make you go “oh… so it’s not just me then”.

One of the reasons why I am so passionate about supporting women throughout their motherhood journey.

I’ve been there and I’ve lived it, in fact still living it. Motherhood is a wonderful, beautiful, messy, chaotic journey however we don’t always show the reality or the truth. So this is why I am sharing my story to help others.

During maternity leave we all think about how we can still spend quality time with our kids during the week once we return to work. We still want to be present but also crave the want to return back to our pre baby self at work.

I felt a real lack of confidence in myself originally to ask for what I wanted on my return. Yet finding the confidence to be able to have both has been liberating.

Unsure of how to ask for what you want? Or need to have someone in your corner supporting you on your return to work?

You've spent so long showing up for everyone else... now it is time to show up for you ❤️

If you’re a mum whose maternity leave is finishing soon and you are feeling overwhelmed, doubting yourself, or wondering “can I even do this anymore?” — I see you.

That loss of confidence? The fear of starting again? The pressure to get it “right”?

It’s real. But it doesn’t have to keep you stuck.

My 6-week coaching mentorship is a safe, supportive space where you’ll:
✨ Reconnect with who you are beyond motherhood
✨ Rebuild deep, unshakable confidence
✨ Quiet the self-doubt and trust yourself again
✨ Take clear, empowering steps back into a career that fits your life

Because you are still capable. Still ambitious. Still worthy of a career you love.
And you don’t have to do it alone 🤍
