This week I'm really happy to share this brand new document and checklist I've created for artists and art trails to assess and inform visitors about the accessibility of their studios/ spaces. https://www.llmcalling.com/post/assessing-the-accessibility-of-your-arts-trail-open-studio Link on my linktree. Arts Trails and Open Studios are a wonderful opportunity for artists to welcome people into their studios, share their creative process and display their creativity. Artists want to invite as many people as possible into their spaces, but sadly most UK homes are not accessible which excludes many disabled people. I have felt incredibly frustrated by the lack of accessibility information available about art trail spaces, and for that reason have never been able to visit any open studios. This document is my solution to that frustration. It helps artists understand the accessibility of their spaces, providing ideas about how this might be improved and being clear about what access isn't possible. It then provides a checklist for artists to provide the details about the accessibility of their studio/ space in advance so that everyone can identify where they can visit. My thanks go to my fellow artists who will open their spaces on the Acorn Open Studios East Berkshire later this year. They caught my vision for inclusivity and have encouraged me to create this. We are looking forward to using it to assess our own spaces, share the accessibility information with the public and get feedback about how well it works and how we can improve it. My new art exhibition "My Journey of Discovery through ICU" is hung in its entirety for the first time. You can come and see it in the art space at St Nicolas Earley on Sutcliffe Avenue between 10 and 4 every day, and it's often open later into the evening. Today I'm hosting a "meet the artist" event at 2pm where I'll talk more about the art, read some of the poems and answer any questions you might have. #artist #exhibition #sepsis #icu #paintings by @emmuk74

If you don’t subscribe to my monthly newsletter then (why not?) you probably won’t have heard that my national award winning painting “Invisible Hands” and the rest of my exhibition “Journey of Discovery through ICU” will be on display at the Art Space in St Nicolas on Sutcliffe Avenue in Earley for the month of October 2026. The church, centre and art space are open on week days and Saturdays 10am - 4pm and Sunday mornings of course so do pop in. Or even better…. I will be hosting a “meet the artist” event on Saturday 3rd October at 2pm. I know it’s late notice but if you are free then I’d love to see you there. Yes you read that right. Mary and Jesus, the painting that kicked off all the paintings in the Following Jesus exhibition Sold at the @wokingham_artstrail The image spoke to the buyer directly and they decided to buy the original. This was bitter sweet, obviously there was immense joy that a painting that means so much to me has also connected with someone else, but it feels a bit like I’m saying goodbye to a child as they leave home. If you are planning to visit or host the Following Jesus exhibition then please don’t panic - a print of the painting will be in the exhibition but it will be NFS (not for sale) and purely on display. Speaking of which….. if you are a church leader, church member or gallery that would like to host the Following Jesus exhibition then please get in contact and we’ll book a date. #followingJesus #jesus #painting #exhibition by @emmuk74
