The ENGN Weigh Station will be open for an Art Book Browsing Bonanza, a limerick competition, and a Rousing Round-Robin Read Aloud open mic from the Silos Speaker’s Corner.

The Poetry Clothesline will be strung to receive spontaneous art and verse.

Art in windows. Stories in paint.

This Thursday, October 1, the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce unveils eight original paintings from Voices Through Brushstrokes, now permanently installed in the upper windows of the Liberty Mall atrium. Each is 8 × 3 feet and visible 24/7.

With Grese Productions, Casa Di Longobardi, and Hope’s Compass.

Open house 5–6 PM
Ribbon cutting 5:15 PM
Where: Liberty Mall Atrium, 15 Sullivan Ave, Liberty NY

The artists will share what’s behind the work, and then the reveal happens outside, weather permitting (inside if it rains).

Voices through Brushstrokes — Artwork Reveal

Free event. Sullivan Ave becomes a room full of paint and sound.

Organized by Hope Blecher Croney, work goes up by Abby Alzamora, Donald Belsito, Anita Bullard, Ryan Coleman, Adam Colombo, Kayli Hussey, Gracie Ivory, Roxxy Rittenhouse. Plus the community canvas from Liberty Public Library, and a poem from Kim Thai, SC Poet Laureate.

Gratitude, like good soil, takes many hands.

The ENGN SILOS Community Garden is real now — rows in the ground, roots taking hold — because people showed up. @jamesasullivan believed in it early and kept believing. The ENGN board gave it structure and patience. Volunteers gave it sweat, Saturdays, and the kind of care that doesn’t show up on any ledger but shows up in everything that grows.

Sullivan 180 and the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway saw a small idea and funded it into a real one. That trust matters more than the dollar amount — it’s a vote for what this community can be, do, and have!

This garden belongs to all of you now. Come walk through it when programs are live or let us know some time you can give to it.

Hi all,

Once again, thank you to everyone who’s contributed time and plants toward making the Silo Garden on the Hill happen.

In July, a bare hill became a garden complete with birds, butterflies, bees, and the occasional deer. Dozens of perennial flowers are blooming, and surprise wildflowers present themselves daily.

Now that the garden has taken off, it’s time for weeding. Our next goal: manicure, shape, and maintain the paths and lawns around the garden to create the canvas on which the painting is painted. This includes weeding the main garden plus the steep hill outside the fence, and introducing low-growing ground covers that allow visibility into the garden beyond it.

We’re accepting donations of flowering and non-flowering deer-resistant plants for that transition — low-growing junipers, periwinkle, creeping phlox, creeping thyme, stonecrop, and colorful daylilies at the base.
