Five years ago, I was living in a small suburban apartment with my amazing roommate @chemagoes, recording my very first self-tape.

Today, I re-did that self-tape, with a Cuban twist.

A monologue from one of my favorite films, GÜEROS, directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios, originally performed by the great Tenoch Huerta.

Five years later, still acting. Still making tapes. by @enoccurbelo

Earlier in the semester, our acting class was assigned with reviewing most of Shakespeare’s work and picking a soliloquy to study and perform. Our professor, Jim, recommended that I check out Othello, and as one thing led to the other, he began talking about how, a few years back, he played the man himself. Hearing this, I asked Jim if he would do an excerpt for the class. But he hesitated, drenched in shyness, but everyone in the class started cheering and hyping him up, and so he finally did. And whatever that following moment was, it changed my entire view on how to play Shakespeare.

Long story short, I asked him for permission to capture it on my camera, and here’s the final result. A very short excerpt form Othello’s Act V Scene 2. Thank you @samrand334 for your craft and your dedication, and for sharing your experience and passion with all of your students.
