🌷Help Batoul, Yousef, 2-year old Eileen and 5-month old Jalal survive in Gaza. Send direct aid to those surviving an ongoing genocide.

🌷This is an updated donation link and QR for this sweet family. They had to start a new campaign due to restrictions on sending funds from the UK to Gaza with their last fundraiser account holder.

🌷At the end of December 2025, Batoul gave birth to a baby boy via a risky c-section fue to complications with her last birth in 2024. In March baby Jalal was hospitalized with an infection due to the genocide and living conditions imposed on them by the occupation.

🌷This family has been living in a tent, but need our help to move into a safer space, access medications clean water, diapers, food and other necessities.

🌷Batoul and her family were unable to evacuate last fall and continue to need our COLLECTIVE CARE and SUPPORT!

Stitch is back! After a little impromptu hiatus we are stitching SUNDAY 10/11 4-7PM @swanarosepdx Drop in anytime!

Every month (well almost) we gather village style to stitch in community. Our circle is informal and all Southwest Asian and North African folks are welcome!

Fall is the perfect time to get to stitching! And it’s a good time to start something new, whether it’s a new project or your first time stitching. If you’ve been thinking about joining our SWANA Stitching community now is your chance.

SWANA Stitch annual community show as part of @portlandtextilemonth

Join us to experience the works of local and national SWANA Stitchers and celebrate community spaces, stitching circles and making art in our everyday lives!

There will be snacks, drinks, and merriment!

Material Memory is what we carry in our hands and on our bodies. This show centers the physicality of handwork and how it can help connect us to the collective memory of where we come from and help shape the future we are stitching together.

Our show is co-created by a community of stitchers, “curated” by community organizers and hosted at a community third space @swanarosepdx

I've never done one of these lists of all the places i'll be tabling at, but finally decided to give it a go. Going up and down the west coast the next couple of months with lots of my hand printed works (of course, the zine fests will mostly just be zines). Come support mutual and direct aid projects, learn about @creatorsforgaza, grab some of the free zines I'll have available (also under Free Graphics on my website) and check out all of these, and more, prints on paper and fabric. Printmaking forever.🖤❤️

FTP patch

(new version, always adding pomegranates)

This image was created for Farm-to-Prison (FTP), a project focused on reproductive and food justice at the intersection of childbearing and incarceration. The project has since changed hands and names, but I love the image that was created as a two color screenprint for fundraising. (Last two images)

This is a hand drawn pen and ink illustration.

This print highlights some of the work that FTP did. The herbs are all aboritfacients, from the left-hand side going counter-clockwise they are mugwort, pennyroyal, queen anne's lace, black cohosh and parsley.

🌹 Bloom from Below: Prints, Illustrations, and Armenian Needlelace 🌹

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the masks-required opening last month, for the beautiful flowers and support. A huge thank you to @sumoudkitchen for the special tea blend (From the River to the Mountains) that was available as a fundraiser for Batoul and @all_for_armenia . And thanks to those who have reached out that they have stopped by since!

🧿 The evil eye, or char atchk in Armenian, is a curse believed to be cast by a malevolent glare, usually given to a person when they aren’t looking. The blue amulet with an eye in the middle is worn, carried, or displayed to ward off this evil and protect us from harm.

🧿 This cultural symbol is combined with the three arrows, the symbol of Antifa, anti-fascism, the ideology and action of warding off the evil of fascism and other forms of bigotry and hatred.

🧿 These are encircled by janyak, Armenian needlelace. Janyak, created from ancient techniques of making nets, is believed to “catch” evil in it’s net of loops and knots, protecting the wearer from the evil eye. This janyak was made by a survivor of the Armenian genocide.

🧿 Our fight against fascism is global and rooted in our struggles for justice.

Calendula Seeds Fundraiser for Batoul! ☀️

Support Batoul and her family in Gaza & plant some little earth-bound rays of sun ☀️

Calendula will self-seed and continue to come back year after year. These seeds come from plants that have been self-seeding in my garden for about 8 years, whose seeds were originally gifted by a friend from Armenia. ☀️

They come in hand carved linoleum block printed envelopes. Վաղենակ (Vaghenag) is calendula in Armenian. The envelopes come with growing instructions. ☀️

Calendula is easy to grow, and pollinators love them as they provide a valuable lasting nectar source throughout their long blooming season. Calendula has many medicinal & culinary uses. I hope you learn about them and build your own relationship with this beautiful plant. ☀️

Each seed variety packet is $5 & contains roughly 20 or more seeds - local pick up or shipped (us domestic only). 100% goes to Batlul. ☀️

Seed by Seed zine - 3rd (and final of this issue) printing!

A collection of stories highlighting the significance of the pomegranate across the SWANA region. 🌷

As an important element in all our cultures and cuisines, the pomegranate can be seen not just as a fruit but as a symbol of our shared fight for collective liberation against genocidal, colonial, and capitalist empires. 🌷

Seeing the way the zionist-owned POM Wonderful Company has monopolized the pomegranate market and rewritten its story for the west while erasing its SWANA roots has inspired us to create a project compiling and sharing personal stories into a zine on the ways pomegranates have impacted our lives. This zine includes alternative places to get your pomegranates🌷

Stories submitted by folks in the diaspora from Iran, Palestine, Armenia, and Afghanistan. Keep an eye out for the open call for issue 2🌷

100% of all sales from this zine go to supporting farmers and food sovereignty in Gaza through the @arduna_team in memory of Yousef Abu Rabia. Arduna (Our Land) is tended by Yousef's family and closest friends, continuing his vision of agricultural autonomy and food sovereignty of Gaza. Arduna continues to farm, repair the land, provide water access and do food distribution in North and Central Gaza 🌷
