“I can’t run to save my life.” Her words. Watch her prove herself wrong. 🏃🏾‍♀️

Nasra has one goal: win the parents’ race at her daughter’s sports day. The only problem — she’s genuinely terrified of running. So Marvyn took her to the track and they learned from scratch, together (and for the record, he was worse).

It’s funny, it’s honest, and by the end it might just get you. Because her daughter is going to watch her mum try something scary and do it anyway — and that’s the whole win.

This is Episode 2 of Big Bro. You don’t need to be fast, you don’t need fancy gear, and you don’t need to look the part. Even 10 minutes of movement counts — and getting started is the only hard bit.

Before this trip to Ilfracombe, Devon, we were genuinely nervous.

Like many British Muslims, we had preconceived ideas about what our experience might be in a small seaside town. We worried about how we’d be received, whether we’d feel out of place, and whether our visible Muslim identity would attract unwanted attention.

Instead, we experienced kindness, warmth and genuine hospitality.

Every interaction reminded us that assumptions don’t always reflect reality. It also made us reflect on how unfortunate it is that so many Muslims feel the need to prepare for the worst before visiting parts of their own country. No one should have to carry that weight.

Our staycation became a reminder that while anti-Muslim hatred is real and should never be dismissed, there are also countless people who welcome diversity with open arms. Sharing these positive experiences matters too.

If you or someone you know experiences anti-Muslim hate, you don’t have to face it alone. The British Muslim Trust provides confidential, faith-sensitive support and a safe way to report incidents.

We read out a really heart warming email from one of our listeners after we did our own research regarding lived Islamophobia experience.

How much nicer would the world be if we all stood up to bigotry!

If you’ve experienced any anti-Muslim hate or hostility (or witnessed it) you don’t have to deal with it alone. You can report it to the British Muslim Trust online by filling their short form at britishmuslimtrust.co.uk, or by calling/sending a WhatsApp message to their confidential helpline on 0808 172 3524. Even if it feels like a small incident, reporting it helps build a clearer picture of what’s happening and supports action for change.

And make sure you read British Muslim Trust’s latest report: ‘Understanding Anti-Muslim Hostility - Foundations for Action’ which can be found in their bio!!

🔔 New episode tomorrow at 8PM.

What even is “British”?

Tomorrow’s episode is an honest Mum Chat about Islamophobia, lived experiences, shared British values, and what we can all do to build a more understanding society.

It’s easy to speak out against hate online, but what happens when it’s a family member, a friend, or someone around your own dinner table making a prejudiced comment? Do you challenge it, or stay silent?

One statistic from the British Muslim Trust’s latest report really stayed with us:

🗣️ 1 in 5 people (19%) surveyed said they don’t consider Muslims born in Britain to be as British as white non-Muslims born here.

It’s a statistic that raises important questions about identity, belonging, and what it really means to be British.

If you’ve experienced anti-Muslim hate or hostility (or witnessed it) you don’t have to deal with it alone.
