For myself, climbing is a pulchritudinous journey of growth and self-discovery. I enjoy the aspect of being able to do it alone or with others. I began with bouldering, where I fell in love with the graceful movement and intricate technique involved. As I matured in the sport I didn’t want to feel limited to just one discipline. I wanted to keep progressing and expanding my horizons.

So, I took the skills I learned from bouldering and applied them to sport climbing. I challenged myself to push beyond my limits and enhance my technical abilities. And as I continued to grow, I ventured into the world of adventure climbing. Trad climbing became my next journey, where I could test my mental fortitude and push myself to discover greater possibilities.

Naturally I came to the ultimate test of mastery and control - free solo climbing. At first by exposure through running it out between pieces but over time realizing I may be able to occasionally forgo the rope and gear altogether. For myself Free Soloing is the apogee of climbing. A discipline that demands both technical expertise and unwavering mental strength. Each discipline offers something unique and special, complimenting each other and while I may be able to rope climb a 5.14, I know that free soloing at that level is a different story.

But here’s the thing - in order to achieve these results, I must be in a good place mentally and physically. If I find myself in a bad place, like I did for much of this year, I wouldn’t be able to fully commit to this complete process. It’s important to always climb for the right reasons and to be mindful of our abilities, the human condition, and our mental state.

Surrounding ourselves with good people, in good conditions, and with good spirits is the key to a fulfilling climbing experience. As we continue through the holiday season and the start of a new year, let’s remember to cherish these moments and strive for happiness in all that we do.

Had a great day in the Splatte. Thankful eternally to legend Christian Griffith for giving me Belikos pants and Avignon top. Verve climbing clothes are my favorite and I have been wearing them for decades. Check out Verve online while supply lasts (sells out regularly.) I had another go at Karuna Matata V10 in the Splatte CO and got a Repeat, but unfortunately, I ended up partially tearing a ligament in my wrist and bruising some bones on the top of my foot. It’s definitely not as straightforward as log jammin V9, which I can now do laps on with ease. I’m incredibly grateful for the unwavering support from my family and friends throughout this journey. The positive energy, the comfort of squeezy peanut butter, the joy of kinder eggs, and the rhythm of good music were all crucial elements. I’m also in the process of establishing a new area nearby and I’m really looking forward to what the future holds. Sending peace and love to each and every one of you. by @epicry

Tennie accent of this one was hard fought but worth the effort. I always try to remember “Be like the sun; never let the opinions of those who hate you dull your shine. It takes greater faith to dance in the dark than to rest in light. What hides in light is greater than what hides in darkness. It is better to seek light than to give into darkness.”
