Oh man, Sam is always on a rampage whenever he can joust on a log. So glad that we have waterproof cell phones.

This is him after he has already been driving, trecking and climbing for over 20 hours up and down Capitol Peak, so it’s impressive the level of energy he still has.

There’s fun… and then there’s type two fun—the kind that doesn’t feel fun until it’s over, and even then, you’re not totally sure.

Climbing Lone Eagle Peak in one push is no joke. It’s like running a marathon with a heavy pack, then climbing a multi-pitch alpine wall—cold, wet, and nonstop for 23 straight hours. This was one of the hardest days we’ve ever had in the mountains. But that was actually the goal, let’s do something harder than the Matterhorn.

In this clip, Sam isn’t his usual chipper self—and that’s also the point. He was cold. He was tired. But he was also learning something more important than topping out: how to regulate himself in the middle of chaos. You can see it in his face—processing, adjusting, staying in the fight. He gives me a punch for filming him (fair enough), but he kept going. He kept his head together. He found his grit even when the grownups started swearing.

This is the kind of fun that forges something deep. Type two fun. The kind that changes you.

Our boys love building fires by the pond. There’s something ancient and good about stacking wood, striking a match, and watching the first flames dance. It brings them together, gets them outside, and somehow, like magic…makes the screens irrelevant.

We’ve built a life around moments like these: barefoot boys with muddy feet, fishing poles in one hand and marshmallows in the other. Our little pond has been the backdrop for pirate battles, frog chases, and deep, heart-shaping conversations under the stars.

And right at the center of it all is our Turbro Fireside fire pit. It’s compact, portable, and smokeless…which means fewer coughs, no dodging smoke, and more time actually enjoying the fire. Honestly, it’s the one thing we use more than we ever expected, and it’s going with us wherever we go next.

Yes, we’re building another adventure…another home, new walls, a different view. And who knows… we might even dig another pond.

Because the world needs fewer pixels and more moments around a fire.

Sam is one funny guy, always busting on his dad. This is one arid place, together they are exploring a ridge in Western Colorado. It was crazy cold and windy but Sam pushed through. Not many other kids his age could do this. He is many miles from the car. This adventure started when the alarm clock went off at 3AM. Thankfully he had his Big Agnes jacket keeping him toasty.

Embarking on a rad adventure, especially in climbing, always kicks off with pulling together a motley crew. Whether you’re hanging off a crag or navigating life’s challenges, the company you keep can make or break your journey. It’s all about harnessing the unique superpowers of each team member - when everyone brings something crucial to the table, the sky’s the limit.

Setting up camp atop Castleton Tower wasn’t just about smart planning, but nailing the execution too. Joe’s got a knack for piecing together solid teams. And soon, it’s Sam’s turn to pick his crew, aiming for his own peaks and achievements. Sam is the youngest climber to climb ElCapitan in Yosemite at the age of 8. He’s also won USA climbing regionals, and is an awesome big wall climber. Who has climbed more walls than anyone his age.
