๐ŸŒณThe reason #EppingForest is such a precious and irreplaceable place is because of peopleโ€™s involvement with the Forest throughout centuries, and that is the main #heritage that we'd love to celebrate in the 'Epping Forest Heritage for All' programme: the relationship between people and the Forest.

๐Ÿ’š For us, heritage is not just what happened in the past, but what we do now to protect for the future.

๐Ÿซถ If you are a community group and are interested in connecting people with #EppingForest, please get in touch! Weโ€™d love to partner with you to create activities and events that works best for you, and together, creating and capturing new heritage about the relationship between people and the Forest.

#Throwback can't believe we are already in the middle of October!

The past couple of months has been a whirlwind for us. We met many wonderful groups and together, created many wholesome memories in the beautiful #EppingForest. And here are some of the photos from those moments.

A shout-out to the groups and communities that visited the Forest, created experiences, and helped to care for it together: from hands-on conservation to arts and crafts, from guided walks to storytelling and reflections, from food sharing to drawings, we love every bit of it. @esea.sisters.in.nature @eseaoutdoorsuk @kultum.co @steppers_woc_wfc @sustainablymuslim @wildlifedrawing @bgh_uk

And we're looking forward to more collabs with many groups and communities of people!

If you are a #community and are interested in connecting people with Epping Forest, please get in touch! You can fill a short form (link in bio), or drop us a DM. Weโ€™d love to partner with you to create activities and events that work best for you. ๐Ÿ’š

A wooden table covered with nature materials and small sketch paper. Several white paper display pen drawings of leaves, feathers, bark, twigs, and plant stems. Real natural objects, including a green leaf, dried fern fronds, a feather, and a piece of lichen-covered bark, are placed among the sketches for observation. Black pens are scattered across the table, and some cards contain handwritten notes and reflections, suggesting a nature journaling workshop taken in Epping Forest by @eppingforestht

We are pleased to share that we have recently donated five boxes of archive material to @the_london.archives

The collection includes records of historic campaigns to protect #EppingForest, including those related to horse-riding in the Forest, as well as the building of M16/M25 in the 1970s and the M11 a decade later, alongside meeting minutes of our two predecessor organisations: the Friends of Epping Forest and the Epping Forest Centenary Trust.

Some of these materials will also inform an upcoming exhibition on the M11 protests being put on by the the @walthamforestarchives

These materials capture the dedication and collective efforts of countless volunteers over the decades, and provide a valuable record of longstanding community action to protect the Forest.

With a huge thank you also to the team of volunteers who spent many hours going through these materials to organise them ahead of the donation to the archives.

Thank you. ๐ŸŒณ

Three weeks on, we are still smiling about the Epping Forest Big Walk 2026!

From familiar faces to first-time walkers, it was absolutely wonderful to see so many people came together to walk, connect, learn and celebrate in the beautiful #EppingForest.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, volunteered, spoke, supported the event. Like our Trustee Abi @forestcowboy said, climate change is real, but there is hope, and it looks like this - when people and communities come together for nature.

Thank you to Yu Leng @buleng000 , our photographer, for capturing these wonderful moments!

Where you there? Tell us your favourite Big Walk memory in the comments. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒณ Group photo of Big Walk attendees gathered beneath next to a majestic ancient oak tree. People stand and kneel together on a gravel path, many waving at the camera, with backpacks and walking gear visible, with more mature trees and green foliage fill the background. taken in Epping Forest by @eppingforestht
