Yesterday, I had the privilege of riding at Laguna Equestrian Club, and it reminded me of what I love most about show jumping: no matter where you are in the world, the sport has an incredible way of bringing people together through a shared love and passion for the horse.

One of the most meaningful parts of my visit was meeting so many of the young riders at the stable. I loved being able to share some of my own experiences riding in different parts of the world, but even more importantly, to encourage them to keep believing in their goals.

This sport teaches us that progress doesn’t happen overnight. There will always be challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt, but the most important thing is to never lose the fire that made you fall in love with riding in the first place.

Seeing their enthusiasm and ambition reminded me that wherever horses take us, we are all connected by the same passion.

A few brutally honest lessons we’ve learned from building a business:

1. Stamina is everything.
2. Your network really is your net worth.
3. You need a lot of nos before you get a yes.
4. You cannot take everything personally.
5. You need to stay flexible when things do not go to plan.
6. And you definitely do not need the perfect branding before you begin.

Start with what you have, improve along the way and commit fully. The clock does not matter when you are building something you truly believe in.
