OKEN — Cocktail Bar
Interior Design

Located in the basement of a 17th-century mansion, now known as TheMerode, in the heart of Brussels, @oken.brussels embraces the weight and darkness of its historic setting.

A composition of columns, low walls, and monoliths structures the space, creating nooks and moments of intimacy. Light surfaces along the walls replace windows, casting a soft, warm glow around the perimeter.

The refined, open bar design showcases the cocktail-making process. The boundary between guest and bartender is intentionally blurred, encouraging direct and transparent interaction.

A space where architecture, light, and craft come together to shape a distinct atmosphere.

SPATIAL DESIGN FOR A SINGULAR NIGHT

Fixed shots of last year’s dinner and afterparty scenography in Ghent.
The scenography evolves throughout the evening, creating multiple experiences for the audience through space, light, and sound.
The intention was to bring intimacy and a pleasant atmosphere inside the monumental hall.

HALO
Dinner scenography

Evolving scenography for a private event held in a former power plant.

A circular light installation is suspended from the overhead crane in the industrial space. This dynamic structure guides guests through the different phases of the evening: aperitif, walking dinner, and afterparty drink.

OPEN SECTION
Installation for Contrasts Exhibition, Seoul

Inspired by the building’s aged and porous character, the installation works with an existing condition: water naturally finds its way through cracks and openings over time. A narrow slit gives form to this process, making it visible as a quiet and continuous event.

The slit acts as a subtle spatial guide, revealing the building not as a fixed object, but as something shaped over time by light, water, gravity, and the elements moving through it.

As visitors move upward through the space, the installation gradually changes in perception—from a distant vertical trace to a tangible presence that can be approached, touched, and crossed.

ARENA PAVILION SYSTEM
Modular & ephemeral installation

Interventions for the central hall of Ghent’s Wintercircus.

A 15-meter luminous ring marks the center of the hall, while a modular circular bench creates spaces to pause and meet.
A movable curtain forms an ephemeral pavilion for smaller events, recalling the building’s historic circus past.
Mobile acoustic curtains around the perimeter enhance sound and adapt the space to different atmospheres.

ARENA PAVILION SYSTEM
Ephemeral and Modular Installation

The @wintercircusghent reopened one year ago as a cultural venue, coworking hub, and technological center for Flanders. Following five years of renovation, Erased Studio was commissioned to design its arena — a space that acts both as the building’s heart and as a covered public square for the city.

The project introduces a series of flexible elements.
At its center, a fifteen-meter luminous ring serves as both beacon and technical rig. A modular circular bench reinforces the geometry of the hall and creates a place of pause and encounter.
A movable curtain suspended from the ring forms an ephemeral pavilion, enabling smaller events while recalling the site’s history as a circus.
Around the perimeter, mobile acoustic curtains enhance sound and modulate spatial perception.

Together, these interventions give the atrium a mutable identity — at once plaza, pavilion, and civic interior. taken in Ghent by @erasedstudio
