It’s been an action packed week in Olympic Valley! 🌻

So grateful for everything @on, @matthad2 and the @the_trail_team have done to support this amazing group throughout Broken Arrow, TrailCon and Western States!

The early morning sunrise runs have been a staple to start each day, followed by plenty of laughter with both old and new friends. I’m learning so much about what it means to pursue excellence in this sport while also building a strong community around you.

Next up, I have the opportunity to pace @xiang.fuzhao and join her wonderful crew as she runs from Olympic Valley to Auburn! If you’ll be at Forest Hill, come say hi!

CHUCKANUT 50K : The Reunion is live on the Ponderosa Pirate YouTube! 💥

Link in bio 🎬

Austin really captured the beauty of Bellingham as Adam and Eric flew to their home state for Chuckanut 50k.

We had the crew in full force as Emily, Grace, Preston, Meg and Jeret also joined for the trip to reunite with old friends and party on the bay.

Stay to the end for a behind the scenes on what it’s like to party with the pirates post race! 🎶💃🏼🕺🏼

Canyons 50k • 5th • 3:45:28 ❤️‍🔥

Canyons was the final race of an early 2026 project I set out to complete. Racing three competitive 50ks in three months.

When I put Black Canyon 50k, Chuckanut 50k and Canyons 50k on the calendar, it honestly terrified me. I didn’t know if my body could hold up, or if I could show up and be competitive each time.

This forced me to take a step back and realize there’s no point worrying about the third race, when you haven’t gotten to the first yet.

Trust my body, focus on the moment you’re in, and control what you can on that day.

You can’t predict how you’ll feel in 3 months, but you can make the most of the moment you’re in.

There’s always that feeling after a race that there was more to give. It’s easy to get stuck thinking on what could have gone differently.

But I’m learning progress isn’t about perfect races, it’s about stacking consistent efforts and showing up when it counts.

Can’t wait for the rest that 2026 has to offer! 🌲🏴‍☠️

I’ve found you can’t always control the outcome in trail races. So instead of visualizing the perfect race, I’m learning to focus on how I want to feel going into it.

In ultras you can’t control the weather or competition. But you can control the mindset you bring and how you respond when things get hard.

I picture myself standing at the start line feeling relaxed. Focusing on my breath as I feel calm, patient and controlled.

Prepared to embrace the tough moments, instead of being throw off because it wasn’t in the plan for my perfect race.

Trust the wave will come, then take it.

1. Easy Doubles:
 25-45 mins at 15%
—> Z1-Z2 effort
—> Improves muscular endurance & running economy
—> Can add any day of the week (keep the day before long runs easy)
(Easy to overdo these, keep it controlled 🤙🏼)

2. Doubles with Progression:
~30 mins at 15% (after workouts days)
—> Start in Z1/Z2 and build to upper Z3
Example: 10 min Z2 -> 10 min upper Z2 -> 10 min Z3
(Effort based depending on how I feel that day)

3: Longer Threshold Work:
90-110 mins total at 3-15% (broken down below)
—> 20-25 min warmup at 15%
—> 40-50 min threshold work at 8-10%
Example: 5-10 x 5 min at threshold w/ 2 min between
—> 15-25 min cooldown at 3-6%
(Ideal to fuel 60-90g carbs per hour⚡️)

4. Longer Run in Z2:
 90-120 mins at 15%
—> Steady Z2 effort
—> Improves efficiency at steep grades
—> Low impact + fatigue resistance
(Great day to practice fueling🔥)

All runners can benefit from uphill work 💪🏼
