In theaters for one week only!

I was honored to co-DP this new @criterioncollection docu-series with @seen.hanley and Kefentse Johnson, with @tory_s helming the edit and the inimitable Debra Granik directing. We filmed for a decade. It went to Sundance. It’s tender, empowering, and wholly NYC - and you can see it right where it was made, on the Lower East Side.

So proud! This has been one for the record books. Started 10 years ago, shot for almost as long, debuted at @sundanceorg in Jan and now? A premiere in our own backyard at @docnycfest . 🍿 Unending thanks to the folks that made this:

@cossmarte for the inimitable spirit, drive, and patience. Buy his weed at @conbud ! @tory_s under whose skilled hand our footage crystallizes: clear, concise, confident, and crushing. @seen.hanley and Kafentse Johnson, who co-created these visual moments that compel and connect. Debra Granik and @annerosellini who provide the structure and vision in which our craft can thrive. @spenplassman and @lindseycordero and @brohletter who dance with our frame and assure voices ring true.

And finally @meerkatmedia who provides the support and care that lets us all have the freedom to be the artists we aspire to be. 🩷❤️🩷❤️🩷❤️🩷❤️ taken in Village East Cinema by @eric_phhhh

When you get hit by a car, make it into a sick Halloween costume! 🎬👦🏻🛴👽 🌕

Backstory: Exactly a month ago, I was stopped at an intersection on my motorcycle when an SUV jumped the median, heading directly into oncoming traffic, and was decidedly about to flatten me. I jumped out of its way only to get hit by a different car, coming from behind me. 🤪 It crushed my foot and broke 11 of the 26🦶bones. But! I wore the right gear, and I got lucky af: no surgery necessary. Not only did I survive, but I’ll be fine.🍀

Takeaways: The last month has been lonely, sad and really hard — but it has also been so emotionally satisfying to lean on my community and feel support from friends and fam. I’ve been reluctant to post about it, feeling like I was soliciting pity. And I felt guilty, cuz everyone knows riding a motorcycle is dangerous, so whattaya expect buddy! (last known photo on slide 7) But talking about trauma is the way we move past it. So I’m talking.

I can’t walk for another month, and it’s 4 flights of stairs to get out of the house. The days are long for a spaz like me who needs to be out and about to feel sane and safe. And I’ll be ok, obvi 😘🥰 but if you wanna come over, I’d love to see you. And it’ll mean a lot. ❤️🧡💛 xoxo. by @eric_phhhh

$1. Reflecting on some quiet rituals today. 2. Away with these ghosts, we honor them. The things we mourn. The goodness, the sadness, things that were familiar and are gone now. Let them live in this water. 3. A fractured stone in two pieces, cleft smoothly in half. I put the pieces back together, took time to line them up exactly right. Reminder to take the time to heal myself, of the the effort and care that it takes to do it properly. Mending. Honoring the process of mending. Honoring the result: a complete and whole person. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 taken in North Triton Cove by @eric_phhhh$
