I lost my mother yesterday. It was sudden and has left us all deeply saddened and seeking a closure we’ll never have.

She was my constant. She was my biggest supporter and encouraged me from a young age to pursue what I loved, drawing and art. Somehow she always knew that I would turn out fine and do good work. She was a wonderful mother growing up, she let me, be me and allowed me untethered independence.

She lived a very full life. Not only as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister but it was her own independence and spirit that I saw growing up, which rubbed off on me. That you really can do anything you want once you set the goal. And that’s how she tackled life.

When I was a teenager, she got her real estate license and became the top selling agent in Western New York in one year. Once she did that, she moved onto the next thing. She was a professional bodybuilder. Yes, I am not kidding. As many of my friends from North Tonawanda could tell you, she was ripped. Once I was securely tucked away at college, she set off on her own adventure. Becoming a flight attendant and traveled the world. Riding camels at the great pyramids to bringing troops back from the Gulf War. When she finally had enough, she settled down in Redondo Beach, California, where she would meet her current husband of 30 years. She loved living two blocks from the ocean, walking there daily.

I’m going to miss our text messages before and after Bills games. I’m going to miss your desire to go grab a Dunkin or have ice cream or dessert at any given moment.

Thank you for everything. I’m nothing without it.

Thinking of my friend Garret today. He was the biggest Bills fan I’ve ever known. My favorite memory of Rich Stadium is the 51-3 thrashing of the Raiders - looking at each other at halftime, in utter disbelief that our team was going to the Super Bowl. #billsmafia taken in Highmark Stadium by @ericbodamer
