The ASC welcomes new member Eric Branco, ASC @ericbranco , a Bronx-born cinematographer shaped by New York’s art scene and early work in the lighting department during the indie-film boom. His credits include the award-winning features Clemency and The Forty-Year-Old Version, as well as the series Let the Right One In, Bupkis, and Monarch. Branco is also an ASC Spotlight Award nominee, an AC Rising Star of Cinematography, and one of Variety’s “10 Cinematographers to Watch.”

Gustav Danielsson, FSF turned atmospheric and grim for Episode 5’s brutal “Trial of Seven” on the Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms @gameofthrones . Following the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall (“Dunk,” played by Peter Claffey) and Prince Aerion Targaryen (“Egg,” played by Finn Bennett), Danielsson made use of visceral POV shots to give audiences a view of the battle from inside Dunk’s helmet, emphasizing the weight of his armor and the narrow slit through which he faces down death. His work is featured in a new Clubhouse Conversations roundtable moderated by Eric Branco, ASC @ericbranco , alongside fellow HBO Max cinematographers Johanna Coelho, AFC; Marcell Rév, ASC, HCA; and James Whitaker, ASC.

James Whitaker, ASC @jameswhitaker_dop approached the dark-comedic mystery series DTF St. Louis @hbomax by emphasizing its characters’ experiences of isolation. Reuniting with series creator Steven Conrad, Whitaker split the season tonally — warm for the friendship that precedes a murder, cool and cyan-tinged once the investigation begins — and, to simulate hard sunlight on a cramped stage, constructed a wall-spanning light array whose parallel shadows helped mimic the real thing. His work is featured in a new Clubhouse Conversations roundtable moderated by Eric Branco, ASC @ericbranco , alongside fellow HBO Max cinematographers Johanna Coelho, AFC; Gustav Danielsson, FSF; and Marcell Rév, ASC, HCA.

Johanna Coelho, AFC @johanna_coelho served as the sole cinematographer on every episode of The Pitt (Season 2), shooting carefully choreographed handheld coverage for the real-time medical drama. Working on a self-contained, 360-degree set with integrated lighting dimmed live as actors and cameras moved through the space, Coelho aimed to keep the light natural and invisible while capturing the high stakes of a 12-hour ER shift.
