@taabuclub is closed for the end of #ramadan so I decided to take some quiet time for myself in the #wadirum #desert in #jordan — I didn’t come with plans to climb but couldn’t pass up the opportunity when offered, I got 9 leads in with @rakan_wadi_rum_tours

So many thanks to Rakan and @joy_of_life__wadi_rum_camp for this absolutely incredible experience, if you’re ever decide to come Jordan I highly recommend checking out Wadi Rum, staying at Joy of Life Camp and touring with Rakan, he and all the #beduin people I’ve been staying with are the absolutely best ❤️

In 2019 I spent a month in Madagascar, and followed around a family of Indri indri, the largest lemur, for about 10 days. They locomote via “vertical clinging and leaping”, basically jumping up and sideways from the trunks of trees while remaining vertical. They mostly stay on the trunks of trees and don’t go horizontally out onto branches. They stay in groups of 4-6 per family, usually with the youngest staying on the mother, a couple of adolescents nearby, and a father usually a bit farther away. They also have a very unique call, with male and female having distinct and easily identifiable calls, and they only call twice a day for a few minutes, morning and evening. Indri also mostly stay high up in trees while the Sifaka stay lower, however in the first video they did come low and were probably 3-5m away from me, after which they start their jumping. Hear them in the last slide. They are critically endangered. And if you happened to have been wondering, yeah I got slightly peed on once.

Note: As a person pretty dedicated to climbers employing appropriate safety procedures I don’t actually recommend you pull out your phone to snap photos while rope soloing. Pictures from 2021

Route is mostly #rhododendron and one of the anchor for #laurel

In the last year-ish I learned and played over 100 songs and performed out somewhere about as many times, and try to do at least one new song whenever I play. I’ve played at about 25 different venues in 5 states and 2 countries. Hard to estimate but I’ve played along with about 50 people from across the continent from all walks of life in the last year. And along the way I’ve listened to more live music than ever before. Almost without exception musicians are the kindest and most open and accepting set of people I’ve ever met, and the support that exists within the greater musical community is unmatched. So I figured I might as well share a bit more regularly. This one’s unrehearsed so I’d like to thank @paratom24 @drakusrecords and @ryanadrums (nice to meet you Ryan) for jumping on, @countrycornerlongisland for being a great place to play with a great community, and @mxwpeters for all the events he puts on and all the work he does
