We Are The Borders— Now Available and Published at https://www.rockwoodpress.com/ 🎉

Sneak peak of Poem 1: Exodus🫣

Please like, share or repost… would appreciate the support!

Praise for Collection

Abdullah Bin Imran explores displacement, identity and belonging through poems that move between exile, memory, prejudice, and personal transformation. Drawing on images of borders, mirrors, cracks and changing skins, this collection explores what it means to live between cultures while confronting how other individuals perceive and define us and how we quite often become metaphorical borders ourselves.
~Silver Busobozi

We Are the Borders is a poignant story of reckoning with the self through migration, misinterpretation, and even malice. This is a necessary collection that adds beautifully to the discourse of what it means to be human.
~ Dr. Rachel Turney, founder of Poetry (in Brief)

We are the Borders offers a glimpse of what it’s like to be part of the Pakistani diaspora. The poems shed and bleed, crack and transform. In four succinct parts, Imran explores the complexity of leaving the country you’re from and having to navigate a land where you feel you don’t belong.
~Maya Cheav, author of by-the-wind-sailor

Abdullah Bin Imran’s work speaks to being an outsider—subtle yet surprisingly raw.
~Ian Gouge, founder of Coverstory Books

I shut down my Patreon last night. After a platform update this summer, Patreon started charging people following my account without informing them or me. The charges were for amounts ranging from one to thirty dollars, so most people didn't notice. The only way for me to turn off the feature immediately was to block each individual follower. Shutting down my account and erasing follower data (like credit card information) takes thirty days, and Patreon warned that my followers would be charged again during that period. So I issued refunds, blocked each follower, and asked Patreon to shut down my account and erase all data. In response, Patreon then sent each of my followers an email, telling them I had blocked them. Three people reached out to me personally to find out what happened. But because I shut down my account, I no longer have access to the list of people affected and am unable to apologize to all of the people who received that email from Patreon. So I'm apologizing here and on my other socials. I'm sorry that my account took your money. If you don't get a refund from Patreon, please reach out to me here or by text or email so I can make it right. I'm sorry for blocking people on Patreon and for not warning you first about what had happened and why I was taking that action. Finally, there were two people I have long supported on Patreon, creators I really believe in, people I think you should support, too. I'm going to find some other way to support Bethany Lee in her poetry, music, and loveliness as a human being. And I'm going to keep watching for Joseph Hampton's art in the Newsberg and anywhere else I can find him.

I am so proud to finally be able to announce that my chapbook, We Are the Borders, is now available for preorder from Rockwood Press, an imprint of @fernwoodpress! 🎉🎉🎉

This project has been a long time coming: from actually writing to the submission process, editing and cover design. Special thanks to @ericmuhr whose professionalism, dedication and of course trust in my work are the primary reasons the manuscript actually became a book. To those who took the time to read and review— @mayacheav, @rachelturney, Ian Gouge and @busobozis— thank you for your time and kind words.

Thanks to my wonderful parents, brothers and friends—many of whom were the ones who sparked the poems within.

The chapbook releases September 20,2026. Check it out at the link below:

don't read this
you're too busy for
poems & pictures
for the beautiful and strange
for soft, thick paper and the smell of good ink
but if you did have time
maybe you could pick up a copy of
Halsey Literary Reader
maybe you would find a place to lay down in the grass where you could look up at the sky and dream about a different kind of living
maybe you could open to a page at random
and then another
and another
Halsey Literary Reader
the words you've been looking for
