Over the years, our studio has collated a vast amount of material samples. Our materials are stored around the office, both loose and on sample boards, to be accessed by all.

As an architecture studio, we rely heavily on visual representation, and having a physical material library offers architects a chance to see how specific materials look and feel in person. This is a great aid for us and our clients in understanding how they are going to impact on the building's design and overall aesthetic.

At 30 St James's Square, the reconfigured stone and brick façades, sympathetic extensions and extensive reuse of the historic fabric including the large bronzed-framed shop fronts, showcase this project as one where re-use and the circular economy has been at the heart of the process from the start without compromising the workplace offer and the architecture.

The building successfully delivers on a challenging site giving very high quality flexible boutique floorplates that ensure tenants can offer the best space for their staff. The building has been completely transformed from a previously tired, outdated and inaccessible 1980s conversion into a contemporary workspace that gives back life and a civic presence to this corner of St James’s Square.

One Liverpool Street has reached Practical Completion! A project which has been in our office for nearly 15 years, it a wonderful milestone to witness the building come alive, with the first tenants already installing fit-outs.

For the @londonfestivalofarchitecture in June, we organised an exhibition titled 'Home is..', where we explored the relationship between place, belonging and community through the eyes of our team.

We asked everyone to bring in an object which captures what Home means to them. This resulted in an eclectic display of memories, stories and backgrounds for visitors to explore. Swipe to see a selection of the objects and the stories that accompanied them!

Thank you to @ribalondon for inviting us to host the first-of-its-kind student exhibition 'In Safe Hands'.

Last week we welcomed students, RIBA members and the public into our office for an expansive exhibition of student work, as well as a range of events and activities focusing on career progression driven by students, grads and early practitioners - from portfolio workshops, to sessions on “designing a practice” as well as looking at career opportunities in adjacent built-environment disciplines.

It was great to see the architecture industry come together, with participants from our own office as well as @htadesignllp, @whittakerparsons, @waughthistletonarchitects, @gpadlondon, @ahmmarchitects, @mulroyarchitects and @carocomms. The panel discussion 'Where Can Architecture Take You?' brought up inspiring conversations with panellists @kuda.mushangi, Katherine Higgins, Tejal Dave-Biyani, Alex Pearce, Catriona Burns, and the panel chair @elliott.wp.

It's been wonderful seeing this collaboration gain such traction and popularity, and we are proud to have played a small part in its success! by @ericparryarchitects

Day 3/4 – RIBA London Inter-School Summer Exhibition

Yesterday, despite the weather topping out at it's highest for the week, it was another busy day of visitors viewing the work of students from all 12 schools of architecture.

Alongside the exhibition, we hosted 'Where Can Architecture Take You?' – an inspiring panel discussion the many directions an architectural education can lead. Students heard from professionals who have built careers across fine art, communications, local government and architectural practice, sharing their insights into their journeys and the opportunities that exist both within and beyond traditional practice.

Yesterday we enjoyed a great event as part of the @ribalondon 'In Safe Hands' exhibition programme: 'How Do You Design a Practice?'

The fast-paced, discussion-led event saw practice founders, practitioners and business specialists have conversations with students, covering topics from cashflow, staffing, business development, marketing and fees to leadership, compliance and culture. The day-to-day business of practice is often learned too late, under pressure, or through costly mistakes.

A huge thank you to all the industry professionals who gave up their time to speak to the students and helped form productive, inspiring conversations to give students a head start in the business of practice. Our own Financial Director Jin Georgiou and Head of People Aisling Jarrett-Gavin were joined by industry professionals from @htadesignllp, @whittakerparsons, @waughthistletonarchitects, @gpadlondon , @ahmmarchitects, @mulroyarchitects and @carocomms.

Our studio had an extra buzz of excitement today, as we opened our doors for the 4-day @ribalondon's 'In Safe Hands' event, an end of year summer exhibition that connects students from various universities with industry professionals from the RIBA community.

The opening day of the exhibition was accompanied by a 1:1 CV and portfolio workshop with various practitioners from both inside and outside the practice.

We are incredibly proud and excited to be hosting @ribalondon in our studio this week as they have developed an end of year summer exhibition format which neatly shifts the focus away from competition and towards conversation, collaboration and crucially, connecting students with the vast RIBA community in London – 7,500 Chartered Members and 1,500 Chartered Practices.

We will be welcoming the RIBA community and built environment professionals to see the work and meet the students at this first-of-its-kind event running from July 7th - 10th at our Old Street Studio, Discovery House, London EC1Y 8QE.

Running alongside the exhibition, there will be events and activities focusing on career progression driven by students, grads and early practitioners, which students from participating universities London will have access to - from portfolio workshops, to sessions on “designing a practice” as well as looking at career opportunities in adjacent built-environment disciplines. Thank you to those who joined us on @fen_court's roof garden for an extra-scenic screening of 'The Art of Architecture', our film directed by Jon Blair.

The garden makes for a spectacular setting, with the scent of flowering Jasmin filling the air as we gathered on the deck-chairs. Alongside the film we could also admire the progress just next door, where the core of our 50 Fenchurch Street project continues to rise.

Last week our team travelled to Stratford to enjoy an inspiring afternoon. We enjoyed visits to the recently opened cultural institutions, with a tour of @sadlerswells_east and @vam_east, led by Eimear Hanratty from @odonnell_tuomey and a curatorial tour of V&A East Storehouse, led by Assistant Curator Rhea Chandratreya.
