A lot can change in a year ✨

I often think of Peter. You see, he had been doing ministry with Jesus. He traveled from place to place. He was fiercely loyal to Jesus; feisty even. If anyone was gonna go down swinging — it was Peter.

Then Jesus told Peter that he would deny Jesus three times. Peter was angry. How could I ever do such a thing? But Jesus was right and Peter denied knowing Jesus.

Peter retreated. His whole identity shaken. He decided to return to who he was before Jesus.

But Jesus pursued him. He went to Peter, back in the place where he first met him years before, and Jesus invited him back. Jesus redeemed him and restored him — even greater than Peter thought was possible.

A year ago I felt so debilitated when it came to ministry. I never doubted God was done or if he mattered, but I doubted how I fit into the picture. But Jesus. He’s so good.

He sent people who reminded me of who I am, and He met me back where He first found me and He has redeemed and restored me. If you’re in a season of wondering — you never have to wonder if God is able to turn it all around.

He can. He does.
Out of a place of great love for you.

You prayed for days like these ✨

Lately, I’ve been looking at every door that’s opening and every door that’s closing and all I feel is gratitude and peace for all of it.

The places that felt muddy have cleared. The anxiety for what comes next has subsided. The community I prayed and believed for is becoming more real every day.

But the middle. The waiting. The wondering.
That’s where faith comes in. Believing for what we just can’t see yet. And it’s a strange place to find peace because the unknown is just that, something you don’t know yet.

The key word is yet.

So we take on the race set before us with the hope for the joy in the other side of it all. Keep moving. If you’re in the middle, every step brings you one step closer to the destination.

What started as a crazy idea actually became real 👀

We had a friend who needed a dog sitter and we thought, “what if we just made a post and see what happens,” and the responses made it clear there was a need that we’d be happy to fill 👏🏼

So we started Jude and Friends with overnight boarding starting at $85/day. What sets us apart? We only take one family at a time.

That’s right, it’s just your dog hanging with their new best friend Jude and his Mom (that’s me) for the duration. It’a truly a sleepover with friends, hence the name ✨

While we do prioritize overnight stays, we also provide daycare options when there is an opening — we’ve got a few clients that are already doing this!

As the holidays approach, we’ve got openings between now and the end of the year, and we’d love to have you.

Send me a message or comment “Jude,” to get a link to our booking request form 🐶 taken in Farmingdale, Maine by @erikajbush

The heavens declare the glory of God
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork
Psalm‬ ‭19‬:‭1‬ ‭

I remember staring at the sky as a kid looking for God. I had heard that Jesus ascended to heaven and that he’d come back the way he left someday. So, I stare and I’d wait. My eyes bouncing from cloud to cloud - is that him? Nope, just another bird or plane.

But it’s such a vivid memory. Laying in the grass and looking up. Laying on the roof outside my bedroom window my Mom told us was weak and would break if we climbed on it (ok, sure) and staring at the stars wondering if every shooting one was him.

And now, I stare at every sunrise and sunset with immense gratitude. To be able to see the hand of God in every single one. The picture I could never accurately capture because it’s an every-sense-experience.

The wind in my hair; the dew on the grass; the crispness of the air on my skin. The smell of a campfire, fresh cut grass, hot pavement, the local restaurant.

All of it a reminder of the complexity around us that God manages effortlessly and then makes something beautiful for us to pause and admire. A good gift twice a day. Every day.

May we never get so busy that we forget to pause.

I know because that’s what I did.

When I made Google listings for businesses in college.
When I started my marketing company after college.
When I said yes to clients that seemed way too big for me.
When I said no to clients who I knew wouldn’t be the right fit.
When I put my business aside to give 100% to my full-time job. Then picked it back up when I realized I’m happy to grind.

Some months it’s made me $100 and other months more than $7,500.
And over the years, I’ve learned the areas I’m the most passionate about when it comes to helping clients succeed.

And then, I just started starting new businesses because… why not? And I learned a lot when they didn’t turn out like I hoped. I did a dog biscuit business. I did event planning, photography, grant writing, and the list goes on.

Most recently, I started a dog sitting business that was inspired by a friend’s need. And I filled my calendar for two months in two posts. Completely in awe and wonder over that happy accident.

Why are you waiting? Just start with the confidence that you have something that people need.

Find the problem and solve it. And do it one step, one conversation, one coffee meeting at a time.

Consistency beats going viral every time.

And if you wanna get coffee to ask all your scary questions and leave feeling empowered and encouraged to take on the world, I’m your girl 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 taken in Maine by @erikajbush

I’ll never say no to a road trip ✌🏼

I didn’t know it yet, but this was such a good gift. As I made my way from Vegas to Scottsdale, I barely even played music because I was in awe of all of it.

I had a plan and I threw it out the window. I bypassed where I planned to stay my first night and drove through Utah to Page, Arizona. Left before the sunrise to start the trek from northern AZ to southern AZ with my only goal: See the Grand Canyon and make it to Scottsdale.

I was in awe as the landscape went from dry tumbleweeds to dense forests and back to dry deserts. And flowers I’ve never seen before… Who knew you could see everything, but the ocean, in one place?! Not me.

But my favorite part was the wonder it inspired. The tears that streamed down my face as I stared out of the vastness of the land and the beauty it held. I’ll never get over it.

I can think of worse outcomes than remaining single forever.

Singleness has taken so many forms for me over the years.

It’s been something I never gave a thought to; something I’ve dreaded and wished I could escape from; something I’ve seen as a temporary waiting and proving season; and most recently, a season I’m madly in love with.

I haven’t done singlenesss perfectly. But I don’t think anyone, apart from Jesus, ever does any season perfectly.

The truth is, I love marriage. I love the beautiful examples of marriage that God has placed in my life. But I also love singleness. And I wish there were more examples of Christians being satisfied and glorifying the Lord with the gift of it.

I wish there were more examples of Christians being so focused on living an abundant life with Jesus, that they wouldn’t feel any lack of abundance in singleness.

I once heard it said that while most of us will end up married, EVERY one of us will be single. It’s the common denominator. For some of us it’s long, for some of us it’s short, for some of us it’s planned, and for some of us it comes back again unexpectedly.

But God thought it was good for all of us to know singleness. To live a part of our lives relying on Him alone. Without distraction and the opportunity for another person’s input or needs to hinder the fullness of our relationship with Him.

It’s a good gift 🤍

And it’s only human to want what we don’t have.

Single people want to be married with kids.
Married people with kids look at the freedom of single people and remember when that was them.

And all of us are looking to be loved and to experience being fully known.

The good news: we already are 👏🏼

The Maker of the heavens and earth showed His love for you when He gave up His life for you. When He said, “It is finished.” He did it for you without hesitation and He’s not taken it back or regretted it. In fact, He’d do it again. And again. And He has again and again.

He’s relentless in His generational pursuit of you.

And will you end up married? Statistically, the odds are in your favor. But until then, would you dare to live without hesitation in His love for you? taken in Maine by @erikajbush

So long August ☀️

Filled to the brim with goodbyes and hellos. Quiet mornings and late nights. Roadtrip sandwiches. Silence on islands. Firsts and lasts. Forest foraging and lake life. Lost in the woods and coyotes who wish they’d caught something else. Neighborhood walks and new hobbies. 31 days lived fully. And the seasons change 🍁

Thank you, Jesus 🙏🏼 by @erikajbush
