When Derek and I share our story we tell how we both grew up in the construction industry. In fact, our dads worked together on jobs in the 60’s before we were born - my dad as a plumber, his dad as a carpenter.

Here’s more on Can-Am Plumbing, the company my dad started 54 years ago and whose leadership my brothers took over in the 90’s.

They are being recognized for 50 years in the Chamber of Commerce - and as the third oldest business in Pleasanton.

Well done Mom & Dad, well done Ron & Mike! 👏🏻

And this is why community is so important to us - despite having moved halfway across the country. It’s why we’ve jumped into our local church, joined the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, the Hood County Builders Association and Leadership Granbury. We know how important it is to be part of the community in which you live. by @erinkvistad

Some weeks, you simply stop and take it all in.

This week, as I walked from one space to another in this home, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude.

This isn’t our forever personal home—but it is the home we’ll do life in forever with our family. And there is something incredibly special about that.

This is a home Derek first designed in his mind, then brought to life with his own hands and the hands of an incredible team. I’m so proud of him. Proud of the vision, the work, and what this place represents.

And now we get to live in it.

We get to work here, work out here, meet with clients with this home as the backdrop to our conversations, invite friends in for coffee, gather around the table, and soon fill these spaces with family, meals, stories, laughter, worship, and memories.

That’s what makes this place so meaningful. It’s not just what we built—it’s the life we get to build here.

And this week, I was reminded again that our vision is ultimately His plan.

We dreamed about a place where our family could gather, grow, work, worship, welcome people in, and do life together.

God has been so faithful to lead us here.

So today, I’m just grateful.

Grateful for this home.
Grateful for Derek.
Grateful for the people who helped build it.
Grateful for the family we get to share it with.
And grateful for whatever God has planned for the years ahead.

Every story begins at home.

And we’re just beginning ours here. 🤍 taken in Tolar, Texas by @erinkvistad

Date night with my forever boyfriend!

We’ve been eating well and back to regular workouts in our new home gym (hooray!), but sometimes you just need to go out for BBQ! When we first moved to Texas we had never experienced anything like a Texas BBQ joint and had no idea what to order. Basically meat. And carb sides. And not a healthy thing on the menu. But oh so good!

Tonight we found a great new spot in Bluff Dale, just 10 minutes down the road from Tolar, Bar Lee BBQ. Owners are Josh and Brooke and they were so hospitable and the food was delicious. We both had baked potatoes with all the fixin’s and I had brisket on top and Derek had turkey. Most definitely not on my meal plan these days, but worth every calorie.

The table behind us had 4 generations of family and they were celebrating the grandparents 72nd anniversary! Incredible!

Good company, great place to eat, awesome food.

Today was a good day! taken in Bluff Dale, Texas by @erinkvistad

These shirts, the 25 I narrowed it down to and finally made into a keepsake blanket after packing and moving them multiple times, represent many things:

8 marathons, 1 ultramarathon, marathon relays and countless half marathons and 5K/10Ks.

1 Ragnar (probably my least favorite of all the endurance events).

1 Tough Mudder.

Spartan Sprints, Supers and 1 Beast in Lake Tahoe to complete our Trifecta.

More importantly they represent a 15 year period of fitness and discipline - starting with my first marathon in Napa two weeks before my twins turned one in 2004 and culminating with the Dallas Marathon days before my 50th birthday in 2019 - for which I’m forever grateful.

They represent an unbelievable number of hours with our Pleasanton Chasing Sanity running group - where we’d meet at Starbucks in the predawn hours to get in a run before returning home to husbands and babies and full days as busy women. And where I met some of my dearest friends - we talked, we listened, we prayed for one another, and we even hosted themed book club dinners.

They also represented travel with running besties - from lots of fun events throughout California including the San Francisco Marathon - to the New York City Marathon.

And they represent a season of craziness where I let my husband talk me into events involving swims through muddy waters, hikes up black diamond runs, crawls through waters with electrical current, carrying heavy things, lots of penalty burpees and jumping over fires to cross the finish line together at a Tough Mudder and multiple Spartans - where he loved the obstacles and I endured them and I loved the running and he endured the miles. But together we set goals, traveled, pushed each other and always crossed the finish lines together.

Owning a business, aging and training in Texas have made it harder to do these events. And I’m pretty comfortable knowing I may have done my last. But I will forever be grateful for the 15-years represented by this blanket.

And to all of you who are represented by these shirts - Thank You! You played a role in big part of my life. by @erinkvistad

One thing I was remiss in sharing in my excitement over our move…

Cedar & Stone has never really been a story about one family. It is the story of two families becoming one family.

Long before there was a wedding between our children, there was friendship. And somewhere along the way, friends became family.

As J&E spent their final summers at home working on our friend’s farm, they brought home new ideas, hopes and dreams. Those dreams began to take shape in all of us.

Knowing we would soon be empty nesters, Ken & Karen and Derek & I began to pray, dream, and cast vision about what God might have for our next chapter.

Could our two families actually do this together?

So we prayed. We searched. We waited.

And, like Caleb and Joshua, we went to spy out the Promised Land.

Then, in April 2025, we stumbled upon property in Tolar. Four contiguous 10-acre parcels. The land wasn’t even available to the public yet. We reserved all four and were under contract within a week.

It had been pray and seek and wait.

And then suddenly…

GO.

Just like God.

What began as a shared dream became something much bigger: two families going all in together.

A covenant. A commitment to share land, but also life.

To gather around tables. To worship together. To carry one another through hard seasons and celebrate the good ones. To create a place where our children, and someday their children, always know where home is.

In many ways, we think about the early church in Acts - people who chose to live generously, sacrificially and intentionally, sharing life with one another.

We don’t know exactly what this will look like, but we know we are blessed beyond measure to walk into it together.

So yes, we are coming home to Tolar.

But we aren’t coming home alone.

We are coming home together.

Two families.
Five households.
Forty acres.
One story still being written.

Cedar & Stone.

Watch and see what the Lord will do.

I got my REALTOR® pin today.

It was a day of learning, meeting new people, touring the Granbury Association of Realtors office (and buying some signs for my listing), and finally meeting a teammate in person after months of Zoom calls.

As I drove home, I realized something.

This probably won’t be a traditional real estate career.

But then again… very little about my professional journey has been traditional.

Each season has prepared me for the next.

Law taught me to think critically.
Business development taught me to build relationships.
Risk management taught me to anticipate problems before they happen.
Construction taught me how homes come together.

And now, real estate feels less like starting over and more like adding another way to serve.

I’m excited to help friends, family, clients, and this community however I can.

Mostly, I’m grateful.

Grateful that God continues to weave together experiences I never could have planned into a purpose that’s becoming clearer with each passing year.

I’ve never been interested in collecting titles. I’ve always been interested in serving people well. Today simply gives me another way to do that.

Here’s to the stories yet to be written! taken in Granbury, Texas by @erinkvistad

With all heads bowed and all eyes closed, with our hands grasped together, we lifted them in the air & said yes to Jesus. It was March 21, 2001 and we were 31 & 32 years old.

I wasn’t raised in church but went to Sunday school with a neighbor and youth group in high school. I’d said yes to Jesus with my mouth before, but not until 2001 did I say yes with my heart and soul.

It was just 19 days after the death of our first baby. Because of our decision that followed, I know one day we’ll meet her in heaven. 💕

But everything changed that day. We were “all in.” We couldn’t learn enough fast enough. Our hearts and minds began the lifetime journey of transformation and sanctification.

Two years later, to the day, my twins were born. We didn’t know anything about raising boys, twins or Christians. But we kept bringing our boys to church and AWANA and VBS and Christian school and pointing them to Jesus. Without role models in this area we were doing our best.

I’m so grateful that our boys didn’t have to wait to 32 to know Jesus. They got to stand on our shoulders and grow from there. And as a mom, one of the things that brings me joy (but I take zero credit for) is that each of our boys, and their wives, know and love and are following after Jesus. And their kids can one day stand on their shoulders and grow from there, with the support of their parents and grandparents. That’s legacy.

So why am I sharing? Because my heart is full as I saw this picture & read the story of this young man, my “middle” son (by one minute). Although his degree is in kinesiology, Daniel has chosen a path of ministry. He served as a resident for his college church last year and is now full time staff at a new church planted by that church, called Symmetry. His job is basically whatever needs to be done behind the scenes to host church and small groups each week as well as taking on responsibilities to free his pastor up to shepherd the body.

Because the church is new, his salary this year is 100% support raised which means he needs partners to help support him as he helps to grow the Kingdom. If you are interested in partnering with him, DM me & I’ll connect you. We’re grateful! taken in College Station, Texas by @erinkvistad

For the past several months, you’ve all watched Cedar & Stone come to life.

What you didn’t always see were the long days…the late nights…the countless decisions…the pressure…the setbacks…and the quiet perseverance behind it all.

In just a few short months, Derek helped design and build Cedar & Stone, prepared for and hosted our son’s wedding, walked through some unexpected health challenges, including a hospital stay just days before the wedding, relocated our business to a new community, welcomed dozens of visitors through the Showcase of Homes, and by God’s grace, we were blessed with wonderful new clients.

Then we did something we hadn’t done in a long time.

We stopped.

For one week in Cabo, there was no schedule to keep, no construction meetings, no deadlines. Just sunshine, amazing food, FIFA soccer with the locals, celebrating Father’s Day and Derek’s birthday, and remembering why we’ve loved this place for so many years.

For years, Cabo was where we brought our boys. This time, it was just the two of us.

And somewhere between the ocean, long conversations, and doing absolutely nothing, we were reminded of something simple…

We still like us.

I’m so proud of the husband, father, builder, leader, and man of integrity you are. What people admire in the homes you create is really just a reflection of the character you bring to everything you do.

Happy Father’s Day. Happy Birthday. And thank you for giving so much of yourself to our family, to our clients, and to the life we’re building together.

Now…let’s promise not to wait so long before taking another week to simply enjoy the story we’re living. by @erinkvistad

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate 250 years of God’s faithfulness to this nation and the incredible freedoms we are blessed to enjoy in the United States.

Last night we experienced our very first Fourth of July in Tolar, Texas, and it was everything we hoped it would be. We watched the hometown parade, where small-town Texas displayed its big heart, deep patriotism, and strong sense of community. As darkness fell, we gathered at the school across from a field for an incredible 25-minute fireworks show that felt like it was put on just for us.

But what made the evening so memorable wasn’t the parade or the fireworks. It was the people. Families gathered together. Children waving American flags. Neighbors laughing, serving, and celebrating alongside one another. It was a beautiful reminder that the strength of our nation has always been found in its people, its communities, and the values that bind us together.

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, my heart is full of gratitude. We thank God for the countless men and women who have courageously sacrificed to protect our freedom. We thank Him for the privilege of living in a nation where we can openly worship, build, serve, raise our families, and pursue the dreams He has placed on our hearts.

My prayer today is that we would never take these blessings for granted. May God continue to guide our nation, bless our communities, and turn our hearts toward Him.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33:12

Happy Independence Day, and God bless America. ❤️🤍💙 taken in Tolar, Texas by @erinkvistad

From resort-style pools and a beautiful clubhouse to shaded playgrounds, walking trails, and weekly food trucks, this neighborhood is designed for enjoying everyday life. This Saturday, neighbors will be gathering for the annual 4th of July parade—a great example of the community that makes Country Lakes so special.
