I like to keep our Tiny Atlas books on the top of my feed but I needed to see new images! I pulled these shots of books I lugged (and damaged while lugging) to Baja and Patagonia before each one launched (2019 and 2022). They are pretty sturdy on coffee tables I promise, just not so much off-grid on dirt roads.

Istanbul horizontal film- I have a lot of photos from the past few months I will be going through this winter. My first stop in Istanbul ever was for a brief day and a half with my sister Julie last month.

Two of my biggest first impression takeaways-
1.Turkish people smoke a lot (not a fan as a lifelong non-smoker)
2.Turkish people make EVERYTHING in their own country. Istanbul is overflowing with production. If you want a rug, a bag, scarves, jewelry, really anything, you can find it all, beautiful, and made in Turkey. (Big fan!) taken in Istanbul Türkiye by @ernathan

Now that How Architects Live 📖 is out in the world, I can share some behind-the-scenes clips from a few shoots for @boutiquehomes @m.j.blazer last year.

I was lucky to spend an inspiring couple days in the home (and rental villas) of Dagmar Štěpánová - near Uvita on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Listening to bird calls at sunrise on various beds, inside, outside and half inside/outside was my favorite part (hear them at the end of this series). by @ernathan

Just back from Kenya!🇰🇪 A little mashup of our stops on film for you. (No Leica required but the images could be sharper, ha).

We arrived to Nairobi, then drove in Land Rovers out to the Maasai Mara with a stop to visit a beautiful, matriarch-run tea farm, spent a few days on game drives (hot air balloon sunrise for another post), heading back from the park, we spent a special night near Narok in a Maasai cultural camp, then went on to Mombasa’s Swahili Coast and Diani — and returned to Nairobi with changed eyes! Grateful to have experienced it all.

Asante Kenya and @ftlotravel ! I hope to be back.

A first few impressions from the road on our first am to sleep in! I’m on an incredible journey with @ftlotravel in Kenya. Little notes for now on each pic. Horizontal first because the landscape here is so wide.

We saw a number of large family groups of elephants these past few days and they have been such a highlight.

Mara river (with hippos and crocs nearby- will get to that!)

Along with wildebeest (have them will get up soon) the most common sight here has been zebras (pronounced zeh-brahs by anyone from the continent I think).

At the border with Tanzania (pronounced tahn-zah-knee-ah locally) inside the Masai Mara park with the group.

All the babies are so sweet to see- these are the olive baboons we have seen a lot (I think).

An early highlight of the trip was a stop at a stunning, local matriarch focused tea farm en route to the Masai Mara- more to come on this!

Tea farm just outside Nairobi. The weather is cooler and more rainy in the city. At elevation in both these areas though so nights are cool.

I captured all these images in the Azores (which is an extremely photogenic archipelago as you can see) on a film camera from the 90s (I neglected to turn off the date function) that cost less than $100.

Save your money if you like, buy photo books instead!
