POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday was an incredible day in Washington, D.C. representing the Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce at a national Business Roundtable focused on strengthening Black economic opportunity.

I’m grateful to the National Black Chamber of Commerce and the The National Business League for the invitation to participate and represent the Commonwealth of Virginia. The day began at the White House complex and continued at the United States Senate building, where business leaders from across the country gathered for important conversations about the future of Black enterprise in America.

We had the opportunity to hear from powerful voices and leaders including Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Alice Marie Johnson, the nation’s first Pardon Czar, just to name a few.

What made this roundtable especially meaningful is that it wasn’t about politics or choosing political sides. It was about Black economics. It was about ensuring that entrepreneurs and small businesses have real access to opportunity, growth, and sustainability.

Throughout the roundtable, we discussed three critical pillars shaping the future of Black enterprise:

Policy and Capital Access addressing how businesses gain access to capital, tax incentives, and policy frameworks that influence business growth.

Trade and Global Markets exploring opportunities for Black businesses to participate in international trade and expand into emerging markets across the diaspora.

Government Contracting identifying strategies to increase participation of minority-owned businesses in federal procurement and supply chains.

I also had the opportunity to connect with business leaders and chamber representatives from across the nation who are committed to building stronger economic ecosystems for entrepreneurs.

It was truly an honor to represent the Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce and contribute to a national dialogue focused on strengthening Black business institutions and expanding economic opportunity.

Today was a great reminder of what collaboration can look like when we intentionally connect business, education, culture, and opportunity. 💙💛

VABCC was proud to be at Norfolk State University today supporting the On The Radar x PUMA experience and the opportunities being created for students to connect with professionals and learn about career pathways within the entertainment industry. Similar On The Radar x PUMA programming is designed to expose students to music-industry executives, artists, and the many career paths that exist behind the scenes.

Thank you to On The Radar for inviting the Virginia Black Chamber to be part of the experience.

This is why partnerships matter. Every collaboration doesn’t have to look the same. Sometimes our role is to provide resources. Sometimes it’s making an introduction. Sometimes it’s bringing businesses into the room. And sometimes it’s simply showing up and helping connect the dots.

When organizations bring their resources, relationships, and strengths together, we create more pathways for the people and communities we serve.

Collaboration over duplication. Connection creates opportunity. 🤝🏾

One month post the 2026 Virginia Black Expo, the numbers, photos, and videos speak volumes!

With over 7,600 registered attendees and a significant economic impact, the Expo proved a catalyst for business development and community engagement. 82% of attendees discovered Black-owned businesses to support afterward, showcasing the

Expo’s lasting influence. As we gear up for our next events, including the Gala on December 12, 2026, we invite you to join us in this journey.

Shout out to Blessed People Productions and B Chique for capturing the moment. Check out the link to photos in the comments.

My heart just broke… my brother. Gone too soon, we just texted and I was gonna call to tell you about My vacation. One of our last text… you laughed at my corny jokes. This can’t be real so I’ll text you just to make sure, no one knew the depths of our closeness, the Godfather to my daughter. #46gonetoosoon by @ernisha_h

Adding to my birthday perspective… at 46, I’m being reminded that 50 is right around the corner. 👀😂

And in the midst of BUILDING, I also have to make sure I’m LIVING.

Sooo… guess what I did?

I took my work email OFF my phone. 😳

For at least the rest of Virgo season, I’m committed to not checking work emails from my phone.

Now, for somebody who has built a life around being accessible, responsive, and always “on,” this is actually a BIG deal. 😂 But I’m learning that creating boundaries doesn’t mean I care any less about the work. It means I’m becoming more intentional about how and when I give the work my attention.

Every email isn’t urgent.
Every notification doesn’t require an immediate response.
And being available 24/7 isn’t the same thing as being effective.

The work will still get done. The vision will still be built. The opportunities will still be created.

But at 46, I’m learning that my time belongs in the vision too.

Chapter 46 continues: same ambition, clearer perspective, better boundaries. ❤️

Now somebody check on me in a week and see if that email is STILL off my phone. 😂😂

Who else needs to create ONE new boundary between work and life? 👇🏾

🎬 One minute can’t capture EVERYTHING that happened at the 6th Annual Virginia Black Expo… but it can give you a taste of the ENERGY! 🔥

This is what happens when Black business, commerce, culture, and community come together.

Thousands registered. More than 150 vendors showed up. Connections were made. Businesses made MONEY. Resources were shared. Conversations happened. And Main Street Station was FILLED with the energy of people supporting, celebrating, and investing in Black-owned businesses. ❤️🖤💛

Six years ago, this was a vision.

Today, it’s an experience that continues to grow and evolve, creating real economic impact across Virginia.

To every attendee, vendor, sponsor, partner, speaker, volunteer, team member, and person who helped make this possible… THANK YOU.

Now press play. 🎥

This is the Virginia Black Expo.

And we’re just getting started. 🔥

It’s all about PERSPECTIVE. ❤️🇬🇧

At 46, I’m learning that sometimes you have to step away from everything you’re building long enough to appreciate everything you’ve already built.

Six full days. No work emails. No calls. No texts. No business social media. Just LIFE.

London reminded me that ambition doesn’t always have to mean doing more. Sometimes growth looks like being present, enjoying the moment, seeing the world, laughing with the person you love, and realizing that the life you’ve been working so hard for is happening RIGHT NOW.

The vision is still BIG. The ambition is still there. I’m just seeing things a little differently these days.

Same dream. Clearer perspective. Wider view.

And apparently, Big Ben right at my fingertips. 😂❤️🇬🇧
