What an honour to be at @oxfordsong on the opening night of their 25th Festival. I remember @sholto.kynoch putting a flyer up at @royalacademyofmusic when we were students. The programme is INSANE! One of the world’s great festivals. A joy to be in the new @schwarzmancentre with Dame @sarahpconnolly in a programme we love: Mendelssohn, Brahms, Debussy (next to be performed at @wigmore_hall later this month), Liszt and the stunning cycle written for us by @errollyn9552. Get along to more Oxford Song events! Last photo…. Obligatory post concert, service station fare…. taken in Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities by @errollyn9552

'Every piece of music I write, I want to impress myself.'

We couldn't have wished to spend our 80th Anniversary celebrations in better company 💗🎼

Thank you to all who joined us at the @royalalberthall yesterday for a special evening with our Music Director @vasily__petrenko and soloists @jfclubofficial, @pabloferrandez.cellist and @lisieckijan, who performed Beethoven's joyous Triple Concerto. Afterwards, Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben took us through the highs and lows of a life well lived.

We were also joined by composer Errollyn Wallen @errollyn9552, whose new fanfare, FLARE, was written especially for the occasion.

There's much more in store for you in our 80th Anniversary Season, and we'd love for you to be part of it. Find out more via the link in our bio.

Remembering with great sadness @therealbonniegreer this morning.

I first got to know her when she presented the BBC TV broadcast of ‘A Nitro at the Opera’, @royalballetandopera’s first opera I directed in the Linbury Theatre way back. She was kind, calm and very engaged.

We then went on some years later with @teteateteopera’s beloved patron, @errollyn9552, to Tête à Tête: the Opera Festival. Bonnie and E were creating another show for the Linbury, ‘Yes’, and E rather brilliantly as part of their development process created a retrospective of her own (Errollyn’s) work, featuring Bonnie. Here they both are in @riversidestudioslondon back in 2011. You can still watch this on our website, search for ‘Telling the Stories Of Out Time’ on our website, link in bio.

Oddly, though, I remember Bonnie most from running in to her many times in Planet Organic, Bloomsbury, where the slow careful choices she made shopping matched exactly her thoughtful, measured approach to anything.

RIP Bonnie. ❤️

Any choral conductors planning Christmas music? Here's an introduction to some choral music by female and non-binary composers, and there are more included in the full article, with links to listen and to the sheet music. The selection includes some easier pieces and some more difficult ones. Are there any that you've sung that you'd like to recommend?
