Welcome to our March Issue: Home + Design ✨

A letter from our very own Managing Editor, Whitnie Strauss:

"We’ve all heard the saying, home is where the heart is. I think that’s true, but I also believe people are the ones who keep that heartbeat going. You can easily fall in love with a place, design it just right, and make it your own. But without the people and stories that fill it, even a well-dressed house can start to feel a little lonely.

Ask any mom and she’ll probably admit there’s
something blissful about an empty house. I soak up
the silence like a sponge. No one asking for snacks, no
background noise, no schedules pulling me in five different
directions. It’s peaceful and restorative in its own way. But after a little while, that quiet shifts. The stillness feels empty, and all I want is for my people to walk back through the door. So, for me, it will always be the people who make my home what it is.

That idea of home being shaped by the people inside it shows up in so many ways throughout this issue. Yes, we’re sharing beautiful spaces brought to life by talented builders, architects, and designers. We’re highlighting experts who help families take the exciting step into home ownership. But we’re also exploring how home functions as a place of learning, creativity, and growth."

Meet Celeste — leading ĒSO in Colorado Springs. 🏔️

As ĒSO begins this next chapter in Colorado, we’re excited to have Celeste leading our Colorado Springs office.

With more than 20 years of experience, Celeste brings a wealth of knowledge, thoughtful leadership, and the collaborative approach that is at the heart of ĒSO.

With offices now in Austin + Colorado Springs, we’re looking forward to building new relationships, serving new communities, and continuing to create spaces designed from the inside out.

Some new faces around the ĒSO studio 👋

Meet Peter, Jesus, Evan + Sara — four of the newest additions to our team.

We put them through the important questions: ☕ coffee orders, 🏡 dream projects, and a few things you probably wouldn’t learn from their résumés.

We’re excited to have some fresh talent, new perspectives, and great personalities joining the studio.

Welcome to ĒSO, y’all. 🤍 by @eso_architecture

This one has been years in the making. 🏔️

Opening an ĒSO office in Colorado has been a goal for the past few past years!

Colorado is home. It’s where Maggie is from, a place she feels deeply connected to, and now a place where ĒSO gets to design spaces for the people who live, work, and play there.

Leading the Colorado Springs office is Celeste, bringing more than 20 years of experience, a shared love for thoughtful design, and a partnership that Maggie is already excited to keep building on.

And this is only the beginning.

We can’t wait to see what happens when ĒSO Colorado + ĒSO Austin come together, sharing ideas, perspectives, and creating something uniquely ĒSO.

Two cities. One studio. A lot ahead. 🏔️🤘 by @eso_architecture

ESO is expanding to Colorado! 🙌🏼🎉🍾

We’re proud to announce the opening of our second location in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It’s an exciting new chapter for ESO Architecture and an opportunity to bring our approach to design to a community we’re thrilled to become part of.

Leading our Colorado Springs office is Celeste, who brings more than 20 years of experience and a deep understanding of the Colorado market. With Celeste at the helm, our new office will serve Colorado Springs and surrounding communities, including Broadmoor, Old North End, Flying Horse North, Garden of the Gods and beyond.

While our footprint is growing, our approach remains the same: thoughtful, collaborative design rooted in understanding the people, place and purpose behind every project.

Two offices. One ESO.

"Style is subconscious before it’s ever visual. Your brain has been quietly collecting for your entire life—the light in your grandmother’s kitchen, the cool of a stone floor on a summer trip, the particular hush of a house you visited once and never forgot. It’s archiving all of it without asking your permission, filing away connections you didn’t know you were making.

And then one day you walk into a room, or past a threshold, or under a roofline, and something in that archive gets triggered. That flicker of recognition isn’t random—it’s every experience you’ve ever had quietly agreeing that this, somehow, is you."

This home doesn’t compete with the landscape, it works around it.

The footprint stretches through the existing oaks, opening the living spaces toward Lake Buchanan while deep overhangs create shade and outdoor rooms below. Inside, those same views are intentionally framed from the places you actually spend time: the breakfast nook, bedroom and living room.

Stone, warm wood, dark steel and a restrained palette keep the architecture grounded in its Hill Country setting.

We’re excited to be featured in the September issue of Dripping Springs City Lifestyle! ☺️✨

In her latest article, “Style, Remembered,” ESO Principal Architect + Owner Maggie Wylie explores the idea that style isn’t something we simply choose, it’s shaped by the places, memories, and experiences we carry with us.

As Maggie writes, “Style is subconscious before it’s ever visual.”

The best seat in the house might be the breakfast nook.

At Lake Buchanan, the architecture keeps pulling you back toward the water, from a built-in corner framed by lake views to living spaces lined with windows. Inside, warm wood, deep green tile, brass details and natural stone give the home a richness that still feels relaxed.

A lake house that feels like the Hill Country, not a departure from it.

This Lake Buchanan residence pairs warm natural materials, clean modern lines, and expansive windows with a landscape that does most of the talking. From the limestone exterior to the quiet interiors, every detail feels connected to its Hill Country setting.

Designed to live beautifully, inside and out.
