Admittedly a bit late to the “kinda chic” trend but here’s our take; it really IS kinda chic to build slow & intentionally with people who genuinely care about the relationships we’re fostering, the community we’re a part of and the work we’re producing.

‘Hospitality in the everyday’ is a perspective we carry into every space we design.

Spaces like @neonarmadillo and @creekhousewtx were built around one goal — give people a to reason slow down & make time for each other in environments that were thoughtfully built to foster memorable experiences.

But we also think our homes deserve that same intention. It’s tempting to play it safe within our own four walls, even though we’re spending more time at home than ever.

If home is where life is actually happening, it shouldn’t be the place we’re most cautious. It should be the place we feel most like ourselves and most connected to the people we love. 🫶

The @neonarmadillo was an incredible labor of love & by far the most fun project we’ve tackled to date.

Our vision for the restaurant was one rooted in community - a place where friends could gather, families could share a meal and kids could play freely. When I stumbled across this incredible, giant vintage sign at @junkgypsy in Round Top, everything took shape - it’s funky, fun, bold, and chock full of character - a tangible expression of the Texas Hill Country.

We’ve been open nearly a year now and seeing it packed with guests when I drive by still brings me SO much joy. 🙏

From the beginning, Maggie Wylie understood architecture to be both an art and a discipline. “I was raised by an engineer and an artist,” she explains. “Creative exploration and precision problem-solving carried equal weight in my house growing up.”

That daily balance shaped how Wylie sees the world and, ultimately, how she designs within it. It led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in architecture at the University of Arizona before beginning her professional career in Austin.

Wylie’s formative years were spent working in design-build environments and construction project management, experiences that grounded her design instincts in real-world constraints. “I saw firsthand the challenges ideas face as they move from paper to construction,” she says. “I also witnessed how often clients, architects, and builders failed to truly collaborate, too frequently talking past one another instead of working toward a shared goal.”

That experience led Wylie to found ĒSO, an Austin-based architecture and design studio built around a deceptively simple premise: Architecture should be joyful, collaborative, and clear. From the outset, ĒSO set out to realign a traditionally fragmented process by bringing design and construction together from day one. “ĒSO takes a holistic approach to architecture,” Wylie explains, “pairing strong conceptual thinking with deep construction knowledge to guide informed, value-based decisions from concept through completion.”
