I have been following Leslie’s work for years and I was finally able to share circle with her this week.

Lack of reciprocity was fine until it was not.

People love consuming Braiding Sweetgrass and indigenous frameworks of liberation but the consumption is where it ends.

Reciprocity is not a metaphor. It’s not a trend.

Reciprocity does not end with receiving. You don’t just bounce when it comes to your responsibility.

Reciprocity is intentional give and take.

It is accountability- you follow through on your end of the bargain.

Make sure you are living it before taking credit otherwise it’s colonial AF.

Last year I made a commitment to investing my values and started focusing on VFTAX - mutual funds that screen for environmental, social, corporate governance.

Today I made a big move from international accounts to buy more VFTAX.

I decided to share cause it’s a big fucking deal that your girl invests and that she kinda knows how to navigate the stock market.

Investing isn’t just for white rich men.

I only learned about @sayholawealth last week and immediately bought a ticket to Luzy’s book launch!

Adulting is fucking hard + Bet being an eldest daughter of immigrants is harder.

My mom finally retired!!! Yay for immigrant moms resting and having a soft life.

She worked hard to build herself a financial safety net and she is invested in leaving generational wealth.

So we’re navigating a financial system that we were never meant to be a part of - and we can’t find a language competent culturally competent estate attorney.

October 2023 found me in the deepest despair and the most horrific grief. Having experienced a personal loss and witnessing the intentional murder and systematic destruction of an entire people in Palestine had me in a fetal position for nearly a year.

Grief and genocide forced me to reckon with my life and my business. I started breaking everything apart and making an intentional choice about what and who stayed.

I lost a lot but the Palestinian people and my own ancestors that survived Spanish colonialism and US imperialism inspired me to continue slashing like a machete and then plant seeds with tender love and care.

The seeds have sprouted abundantly this year but another October of grief and genocide reminds me that it’s time to sharpen my machete and slash some more.

What is blocking joy? What is turning me away from life? What moves me and the collective further towards liberation?

Most people never follow their paths, hearts, intuition because que dirá la gente?

Most people don’t show up authentically as themselves because quien se cree?

Most people don’t celebrate their accomplishments porque mal ojo y envidia?

What if you walked your path even if other people find it cringe?

What if you shared your work, accomplishments, even if other people scroll on?

What if you did the thing even if other people don’t support it, actively criticize it, or doubt it?

It’s cringe to not walk this world being you and sharing your medicina.
