Conversation about money has always felt scary for me. It was one of those silent topics in my family so meeting Diana, a fellow immigrant who has the courage to talk about the big issues felt so refreshing! @esperanzapllc and I shared many moments of connection and I hope this conversation made you feel seen. Tell me what you’d like to hear on the next season of Between Two Worlds with Dr. Phebe. Now streaming on YouTube and your favorite podcast platforms

Today’s Burien Collaborative Mental Health Affinity Group gathering was powerful and deeply needed. As therapists and mental health workers, we talked about the weight of capitalism, imposter syndrome, generational healing, oppressive systems, and what it means to care for ourselves while caring for others.

We are growing. We are healing. We are coming together in community!

I’m so honored to lead this group, and this space wouldn’t be what it is without each and every person who shows up with honesty, care, and vulnerability.

If you’re a therapist or mental health provider in the Burien or surrounding areas looking for connection and collective care, we’d love to have you.

Managing money is complicated, mostly because it’s psychological, not just logical. You don’t have to figure it out by yourself. We put together a list of resources to help you navigate the mental side of finances.

Want to send a huge thank you to the experts at our conference who dropped these gems for us! Make sure to follow them and to register for our upcoming conference where you can learn more gems 💎🤎✨.

Thank you everyone who showed up to our COMMUNITY MEDICINE MAKING MONDAY last Monday! We had such a good time and got everything and more done from our list! The babies held us in laughter, the big kids who used to be babies impressed us with their labeling skills, we ate fresh garlic and spring greens from the garden, along with cowlitz river salmon canned from the summer! We scooped tea and told stories and taste tested everything 😋, took fire cider shots and got to make some really good new friends! Join us for our next Community Medicine Making day on April 20th, 1-5pm at the apothecary (address on the flyer) please rsvp via text to (361) 283-6499

10 Years In Private Practice - as an Indigepreneur for my Indigenous business - this month!!

Thank you younger Jamie for this idea you would not let go!

Kin River Healing started at Radical Recovery - a place for families to ask for help about the impacts of substance use on their lives without discrimination and stigma. A place of harm reduction, relational healing and care for complex trauma.

In 2021 my Indigenous business transitioned to Kin River Healing - to center my Yakama culture and teachings from my Yakama matriarch, because she told me to… haha. Kin River Healing is a place for navigating change with the medicine of relational intelligence - as a trauma therapist for QTBIPOC, creative facilitator and trainer, professor and writer.

Kin River Healing is an eco-system it’s multi-hyphenate!

A little over a year our Yakama matriarch transitioned and in my debilitating grief I was not sure what was to come for my near decade worth of investment in my business. A large part of me wanted to be done. I am glad I waited to see what was to come.

So here I am celebrating 10 yrs! With at least 10 more to come, may this micro biz with a macro heart continue to be in service to our collective liberation.

Thank you for being KIN in reciprocity with me.

My weekly newsletter will resume tomorrow with updates about how I will be giving back to community in this 10th year of business - this weekly love note will always be no cost, with invitations for deeper learning at accessible costs with my substack to come.

It’s going to be a year of flourishing amidst collapse, because for those of us who still can, MUST.

Wow, I will be processing what happened yesterday for a while. 26.2 mile finisher - not in any way that I expected, but finisher I am.

I would not have finished without my dad, my family, my partner or my sister @esperanzapllc - of course she was there, she always is. Any voice you hear on the videos is hers - standing in and representing the joy of my mam.

To my village that showed up - we were all finishers yesterday because we accomplish nothing alone, our villages carry us and we carry each other.

I had a beautiful 17 mile run, an ok 3 mile run, and then a grueling 6.2 miles.

I was discouraged that may pace fell off, my watch broke, my head phones broke -my stomach was messed up! At 20 miles my dad appeared and then at 21 my sister. Creator was ready.

It took me 3 more miles to get my heart rate back down to a safe level and two stops to vomit. I was able to run the last 2 miles.

From casual jogger 2 years ago, to a 1/2 marathon and marathon in the last 18 months is something I do not take for granted.

The day before the race at least 10 eagle relatives came to visit me. I feel rooted in this path. Running is medicine for me, so that I may stay in abundance with what I share with others.

Thank you @xochitlashe for introducing me to a form of healing that paved the way for this day - I even vomited into a a grassy knoll of 🍄 relatives at mile 23! We are all so well connected all the time.

Whatever goal you have is sacred and it is a prayer from your ancestors. You are worthy of your visions and plans and may you accept your commitment to them.

Thank you @urbannativeera for helping me rep the TRUTH and to the ancestral land of the Duwamish, Muckleshoot and Tulalip tribes for the incredible medicine of your land kin.

Ok, now back to hobbling around the house. <3

“We don’t have it.”

For so many women of color, that was the first money lesson we ever learned.

Not budgeting.
Not building.
Not believing.
Just… survive. Stretch. Make it work.

What we don’t talk about enough is how that sounds like a sentence, but feels like a wound.

Because scarcity doesn’t just shape your money, it shapes your nervous system, your decision-making, your self-worth, and the way you see opportunity.

As adults, it can show up like:

1️⃣Hesitating to spend even when you’re safe now
2️⃣Feeling guilty for wanting more
3️⃣Shrinking your dreams or making yourself seem small
4️⃣ Choosing stability over expansion because fear feels familiar
5️⃣ Overworking because rest still feels “irresponsible” or producing more guilt

Scarcity, is a story you inherited, so together, we’re rewriting it.

This is why Money Stories Matter.

Because healing your relationship with money starts with healing the emotions attached to it.

👇🏾 Save this for the days you slip back into survival mode.

👇🏾 Comment “ME” if scarcity was one of your first money lessons.
