I didn’t get into this work for recognition. I got into it because food is a human right, and too many of our neighbors are being left behind.

From produce markets to warehouses to policy rooms, I’m fighting to make sure every family has access to food and fresh produce. The work continues. ✊🏽🍎

Six years ago, I made a commitment to fight hunger and help build a future where access to fresh, healthy food is treated with the dignity it deserves.

Seeing Verde Vida featured on Univision is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come; and how much work remains.

Behind every pound of food we distribute is a family trying to make ends meet, a student who deserves to learn without hunger, and a community worth investing in.

Another year around the sun; three decades in, just trying to live it the right way.

A few moments from this past year: cooking with our Verde Vida community, getting some quiet time upstate, and showing up for friends doing big things.

That balance means everything right now.
Grateful for the people in my life and the work we’re building together.

Earlier this week I checked off a personal goal of mine;

Turning a school classroom into a kitchen.

Parents filled the room and selected fresh cilantro, peppers, garlic, sweet mini peppers. The smell of fresh sofrito slowly filling the room.

Chef Antonio led the class while parents chopped, blended, laughed, and shared stories about the kitchens that raised them.

By the end of the afternoon everyone left with mason jars full of sofrito and fresh produce to keep cooking at home.

From The Bronx to Washington Heights, the past two days showed me the power of community in action. Fresh produce in the hands of families. Parents choosing food with dignity. Volunteers serving with heart. Neighbors lifting one another up.

At Verde Vida, our mantra love, comunidad y comida is more than words. It is the very fabric of how we nourish bellies, restore dignity, and fight hunger together.
