Meet Carly Laking, our Head of Design 🌿

Carly leads the Esselle design team, shaping the colour stories, patterns and details that bring each collection together.

Her favourite palette from Exotic Islander is the rich mix of reds and terracotta tones, seen across designs like Saffron and Colonnade. Warm, earthy and expressive, these shades bring depth to a scheme while still feeling easy to layer with softer neutrals and natural textures.

A standout for Carly is the versatility of Saffron fabric. Available by the metre, as made-to-measure curtains or Roman blinds, and even suitable for upholstery, it makes it easy to carry the same colour story across a whole room.
It is this considered approach to colour and coordination that sits at the heart of Exotic Islander.

When two British interiors brands come together ✨

For the launch of our new Exotic Islander collection, we partnered with Ted Todd to bring the campaign to life, pairing our wallpapers, fabrics and furnishings with their beautiful wood flooring.

The result is a series of spaces that feel layered, considered and completely transportive. Rich pattern, natural texture and a shared love of beautifully designed interiors all working together.

We loved collaborating with the Ted Todd team on this shoot and seeing how effortlessly the two brands complement one another.
