✨ Essem Art is celebrating EIGHT years. ✨

In mid-2018, I opened a co-creating space for studio artists and quickly realized it wasn’t going to work — so I dreamed about what I could do with the space instead. I was a young mom at the time, and I started hosting kids art labs for other mom friends and their cute kids. One weekly class.

I had no idea I’d find my life’s calling doing what I love most, in this beautiful community.

Through the many exhilarating highs and the few excruciating lows, my greatest joy has been creating with you and your beautiful young artists, and watching your families grow in number, in age, and in creative confidence.

Come celebrate with us — special Open Studio this **Saturday, 10:00–11:30 AM**. Donuts, a little gift, our Fall calendar, and all the hugs and high fives. No sign-up needed. 💛

Light & Love, Miss Sophia 😘

Sweet week in review… made so many new friends, created super colorful and textured food inspired art collages, hosted our first adult art night in months, shared tons of high fives, warm hugs, and silly laughs. Thanks to everyone who came through for art labs, after school art, pottery club, and adult art night. This week filled my cup! 😘 by @essemartstudio

Mommy, mom, ma, mum, mamma, mother dearest... Ladies, this one’s for you. 😘

Let’s calm our nervous systems with some self care and art time. 😌 This Fall, we are-launching monthly Adult Art Nights as a seasonal exploration to a dedicated medium, starting with watercolors. In the past, we jumped from one medium to the next and it was fun but barely scratched the plastic shrink wrap off the surface, so we’re going to go a little deeper one medium at a time.

We’re kicking off with a series titled Wonders of Watercolors because many of you have watercolor sets gathering dust at home and it is, in my humble opinion, one of the most challenging but also most liberating mediums. Watercolor asks you to embrace imperfection, flow, and exploration. It is a soft but vibrant medium.

We will spend the first 20-30 minutes in playful exploration of the medium and I’ll show you some super fun watercolor techniques I’ve picked up over the years. Then we’ll spend the next 45-50 minutes painting a loosely facilitated piece together.

Real talk: I would love to grow Adult Art Nights into a weekly semester event so that we can normalize making creative time for ourselves the same way we make time to work out for the physical and mental release. I believe it’s inherently human to embrace our creative expression.
No experience required.

✨Bring your beverage of choice.
✨Bring a friend, or come solo.
✨Join one session. Join all four.
✨All materials are provided, but if you want to explore your watercolors, bring them!

DM me with any questions! 😘 Link to register in bio. by @essemartstudio

🥰 My heart is so full. Open Studio was an absolute blast this morning. Despite the countless things going on in and around town, so many friends dropped in, had a donut, doodled, grabbed a gift, hugged and high fived, and it was such a lovely morning.

To everyone who made time to drop by, thank you for the gift of your presence today. 🩷🥰 For those who couldn’t make it and sent loving notes and texts, thank you! Thank you, Charlestown, for 8 great years… here’s to many, many more.

Next week, we kick off our 9th year with the start of our Fall semester. We hope you’ll join us this season for some colorful, creative, and joyful art experiences! 😘

To my sweet girl, Ariana aka Donut Wall Princess and the OG Essem Artist… I love you so much and can’t believe how much you’ve grown. Being your mom is the greatest joy.

To Adam, my husband and rock. Thank you for believing in my dreams and always holding our family down. I love and appreciate you so much. 🩷 by @essemartstudio
