“ The Road to Mullumbimby”

18x 18 inches

Acrylic on canvas, glazed

There’s so much to say about this painting, how it just took over me. My love for the northern rivers and Mullumbimby, a cute little hippie town in Bundjalung country which I’m lucky to call my home. I gave so much of myself into this painting that I found so much of myself in the process.

I painted the road on which I drive, and many others everyday but never have a chance to stop and admire. Such is just a speckle , a moment of the beauty in this area.

I scraped off bits of paint from my palette which I glued onto the painting, and used textured paste which makes the painting 3D

Thank you for the overwhelming kindness and love of this painting, she’ll be hanging in the sushi shop in Mullum in about a month if anyone wants to check her out!

“ Gaze of the gumtrees”

On my website for sale 🌈🌍

51cm x 61cm

Original idea and painting

Acrylic on canvas, glazed for protection

Gumtrees, with their colourful bark and twisted branches, swirling patterns alive with movement. Bright pink and orange. This is what Australia is. Mystical and bright.
A deep connection to the land that I feel, blending both the spiritual and the surreal. Australias natural world is both a part of us and something beyond us- a pulse that connects all living things.

“ The world after”

Prints available on Etsy 🌍

Original available on my website, and Etsy 👁️ 🐋🌕

Original comes with a handmade black frame 🖼️

Acrylic on canvas

35cm by 27.5cm, this one’s a wee guy ( compared to my recent paintings)

Inspired by my love of fantasy novels, films and a mix of historical and dystopian worlds, this artwork brings together fantastical landscapes, sailing ships and surreal elements to create an imagined world🌊

But as well as the sense of adventure, I wanted to bring thoughts on climate change and its impact on our planet. I want to explore the relationship between fantasy and reality and have the viewer imagine worlds shaped by both wonder and environmental uncertainty

Where are you in your art journey right now? 🤔 🖌️

Trying this again— a new creative offering we’re very excited to share with you 🎨❤️

@the_deer_and_huckleberry and I are bringing new creative painting sessions to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿☀️

Have you ever wanted to try painting but didn’t know where to start? Or maybe you’d love to meet other creative people and spend some time making something in a relaxed, welcoming environment? 🧚🏼‍♀️🌿

We’ll be hosting a monthly informal guided painting session, with a new theme and painting reference each month

I’ll create the reference painting beforehand, which we’ll use as inspiration during the session. But this is not a formal or professional art class 🧚🏼‍♀️there’s no expectation to have experience, follow the reference exactly, or produce a “perfect” painting🖌️🌊☀️

The vision is a relaxed creative gathering where we’ll have a bit of guidance to get you started, then encourage you to play with your own colours, ideas and personal expression. And if you don’t know what your “style” is , that’s completely fine we can just experiment and go with the flow✨ 🌊

As a landscape painter, my work naturally leans towards nature and landscapes and but each month will bring something new to explore

We’ll work with acrylics and watercolour, depending on the session, and all materials are provided! 🎨

✨ You do not need any previous painting experience to join! ✨

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already beginning your painting journey, this is a space to experiment, create, connect with like-minded people and enjoy making something without the pressure of having to be “good” at it.

🍂FIRST SESSION — 6TH OCTOBER 👻🍂
Ghosties in the Autumn Leaves: a Halloween -inspired autumn forest. We’ll be creating an autumnal forest scene together, with a little ghostie feature👻🍁

Come along, bring yourself , and spend some time creating, connecting and getting a little messy with paint without pressure🖌️❤️

Bookings are through eventbrite

Lots of love & light ✨

“ Back to my roots”

This is a bigger piece, 24 x 24inch , acrylic glazed on canvas

This painting was such a personal process for me. I mean they always are…

I stepped away from painting purely landscapes for the first time in a while , and placed myself and the human form within the landscape

After around six months back in Scotland, where I’m from, I’ve found myself reconnecting with my roots in a way I never had before. Spending time away in Australia made me realise so much about the life I want, but being away also gave me a new appreciation for where I come from and for my Scottish heritage

This piece became a meeting point between those two places

I tried to make the landscape draw from Scotland but the landscape and colours became visibly influenced by Australia ( I can’t help it🥹😭). Celtic symbols are hidden throughout the painting as little references to my heritage, while the figure represents my own place within these landscapes and the journey between two homes.

It feels like a painting about identity, belonging, and carrying different parts of home with you . You are my home in my heart❤️🇦🇺, but I have to accept what’s also a part of me 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

DM or website to buy original or prints if you resonate☀️🍃🧚🏼‍♀️
