Craftwork will be showing a new iteration of Ancient Futures, a large-scale interactive textile installation, this June as part of DEMO2024. Join us on June 7th at @wsanyc for our talk. The showcase and installation will be up from June 5 - June 20 🌱 by @etextiles

2024 Open Call for @electronictextilecamp is live!

✨ We are so excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for electronic textile camp (ETC), 2024! ✨
Camp will run from Sept. 14th - 22nd.
Applications are due April 5th by 11:59 pm EDT.
This year we are happy to continue to be hosted by @prairierondeartistresidency in Vicksburg, MI. 💗

Who should apply? We welcome enthusiasts fascinated by the combination of technology and craft, whether it be material, cultural, technological, poetic, or aesthetic.
We have had engineers, artists, weavers, musicians, machine knitters, escape room designers, e-textile practitioners, and more.

@messinicole Excited to be showing work at the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum @qfamuseum as part of the @instahga Small Expressions 2023 traveling exhibition 🧵⚡🪫

I've decided to show process pieces, a part of working with conductive fabrics! This is a wearable sleeve antenna that pairs with a circular circuit using a 555 timer that acts as a radio transmitter. The design of the antenna was inspired by a normal mode helix. All pieces use copper polyester taffeta on cotton and nickel/copper ripstop with traditional sewing materials and electronics, and they were used in a performative exploration of turning bodies into systems by hacking radio signals as a form of communication and musical instruments. Since that performance, I've continued to make small radio and antenna swatches through the years. Made at @electronictextilecamp 🌟 by @etextiles

Join @craftwork_collective in an open studio showcasing ‘Ancient Futures’ ✨

In addition to the participatory textile installation, the open studio will also display weavings created during workshops at CultureHub and large and small scale prototypes and swatches that provide visitors an insight into the production and process of weaving with fiber optics and etextiles. The open studios will provide the community with an opportunity to help us workshop and explore the storytelling potentials of “Ancient Futures”. Swatch-making, experimentation and audience engagement are essential aspects of @craftwork_collective’s creative, collaborative process.

This open studio is part of @messinicole’s residency at CultureHub residency and will be hosted in-person at the CultureHub studio in NYC. Link in bio for more information! by @etextiles
