01: I've noticed a distinct lack of people in my work, from the beginning all the way through. Where, within these little projections of mine, you may find people, they are either distant and uncontentious or posed with wandering expressions, often looking away. Perhaps this is a more honest indication of how I've lived; either afraid of the world around me for one reason or another, or unwilling or unable to truly connect with it. Frankly, I find this to be true. Solitude is a welcome comfort, a fort where I may exist without fear of doing something "wrong" and misaligned with others' expectations. Fainting to judgement or inconvenience, I willingly become a shadow for another's perception.

In the past I've used phrases like, "I am who you say," to exhaust the burden of ego. Perhaps that's cowardly. In western art, individualism is king. You come up with a style that stands out and people remember you for it. This seems a reflection of one very important rule: to meaningfully participate in the ephemeral joys of life, you must be yourself without imposition. My fears are unhelpful; people want you to be yourself. Friends want you to be closer, they want to champion you on as you explore. Life is lifegiving- why should I be afraid of that?
