Dr. Lisa Dunkley and Professor Deidra Rogers, a professor in ETSU Department of Counseling and Human Services department, secured an Allstate Foundation College Service Grant, which they used to increase accessibility at ETSU's through Disability Services. Dr. Dunkley developed the REACH Youth Ambassador Program to help advance accessibility and inclusion across campus. The grant provided more than $9,000 in assistive devices and technology designed to support students with disabilities. Students can access devices and training through the new Emma Kate Disability Resource Center in The Culp. These new resources will help reduce barriers, increase access, and provide students with additional tools to support their success at ETSU. How cool is that! by @etsu_chs

Dr. Lisa Dunkley, a professor in our Rehabilitative Sciences department, was selected to attend the Youth Empowerment Forum (YEF) 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. The event led to an opportunity to connect with more than 100 leaders and changemakers from around the world while exploring leadership, sustainable development, disability awareness, and youth empowerment. From engaging workshops to visits to the World Trade Organization and International Labour Organization, the experience was a powerful reminder of what is possible when emerging leaders connect, collaborate, and create change.

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education is pleased to announce that the Gary E. Shealy Memorial ALS Clinic at East Tennessee State University has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 George E. Thibault, MD Nexus Award.

Some of our programs, ETSU Dental Hygiene, ETSU Department of Social Work, and ETSU Radiology, are collecting things for homeless veterans in our region as part of a holiday donation drive. If you would like, you can collect some of the items and donate them in Lamb Hall. They are also offering donation pick up for those not on campus.

Last night, Vic Harmon, MSW student, served as a panelist for the community-wide event, Homelessness Is a Community Issue: Building Health, Housing, and Hope Together. Drawing from their experiences with Unity Housing in Johnson City, first as an AmeriCorps volunteer and now as a clinical social work intern, Vic shared valuable insights into the realities of housing insecurity in our region. Their perspective added an important voice to an outstanding panel discussion focused on addressing homelessness through collaboration, advocacy, and practical solutions. We are proud to see our students contributing their knowledge and passion to conversations that matter.

This was the second year of the Cascade Orthopedic Supply Scholarship, and two first year O&P students, Joshua Faller and Natalie Fellers, received the award. Two representatives from Cascade traveled to campus to present the scholarship awards, Debbie Hatch, Director of Sales, and Brent Melton, Mid-Atlantic Account Manager.
