Day 009 // Solid testimonials can do half of the selling for you. Think about how you shop for things… for us if we’re wanting to buy something on Amazon..the first thing we do is check the reviews. Being good at what you do is expected…what others say about working with you can separate you from the 100 other people doing what you do. If you’re not sure where to start you can do exactly how we do for @speechlessboudoir. Ask your clients/customers for a thank you note. by @eugenebrown

Day 008 // We built an automation to help make the off boarding process leave a better last impression! For the longest time we’d just disappear after we finished a project! We also walk away with the perk of getting testimonials and referrals! by @eugenebrown

Day 005 // You lower your price to win the job, and it does the opposite. The number that was supposed to make you the easy choice is the thing making them nervous.

Price is a signal before it’s a cost. When you come in way under everyone else, people don’t think “what a deal”. They think “what’s wrong with it”.

Your brand tells them what to expect from you. Undercut it, and you’re telling them to expect less, no matter how good your work actually is.

Day 004 // You can say you’re good at what you do all day long. Coming from you, it still sounds like a pitch, even when every word is true.

That’s the stranger effect. A client says the same thing you’ve been saying, and now it’s real. Nothing changed but who said it.

This is what testimonials actually do for your brand. They let the world confirm what you already know about yourself, so you’re not the only voice in the room vouching for you.

Your brand gets stronger every time someone else says the thing for you. by @eugenebrown

If your market is “oversaturated,” that’s not a bad thing. It’s good. It actually proves people want what you’re offering.

The problem is you may be trying to win at something that’s very hard to be the best at. It’s not impossible, but the smarter move is to create a smaller circle so you can actually win in a smaller category of the industry you’re already in first.

Years ago when we used to film weddings, we’d offer a whole list of stuff. We’d share the gear we had, that we did same-day edits, guest interviews, reception coverage, all of it. And we weren’t booking.

That taught us we needed to change our circle. Our positioning. So we started saying, “We film destination weddings, and we become part of the family while we’re there.” Once we did that, we started booking way more. We were shooting the weddings we actually wanted to.

Now it’s years later, and that lesson still applies today.

Being the obvious choice in a smaller circle is way more beneficial than being tenth in a bigger one. When your messaging is dialed in, when you know your customer’s problems better than anyone, when you’re speaking directly to them, that’s what makes you the obvious choice.

So if you’re a salon, instead of trying to be the best salon in Nashville, you could be the best salon for busy moms. Or the best salon for blonde treatments.

Instead of trying to be the best salon, period, just change your category. Your positioning. Your circle. Make it winnable first, and then you take on the bigger circles.

One of the biggest pushbacks we get from clients when we run them through this: they think a smaller circle means less business. But when you’re dialed in on who you’re talking to, and your messaging is that clear, it makes you the obvious choice for the people who need what you offer.

That means more business. And more business from the people you actually like working with and can help the most.

So stop trying to take down Goliath. Pick up a rock and create a smaller circle. by @eugenebrown

Day 003 // Everyone thinks they need a bigger audience. More reach, more market, more people to convince.

But when your market feels crowded, the fix usually isn’t going wider. It’s going smaller.

You don’t have to invent a whole new category or be the first person to ever do what you do. You just have to be the first at a more specific version of it. Narrow the circle until it’s one you can actually own, then own it.

Draw the smaller circle you can be first inside.

Send this to someone who’s convinced their market is too crowded for them to stand out. by @eugenebrown

Day 002 // of building up your brand and business.

We drew the train station out for our twins. They want to pull trash bins for the neighborhood and had no idea where to start, so we had to strip it down to the parts that actually matter.

We’ve explained this framework to owners running six figures. It’s the same three parts every time. The size of the business doesn’t change what makes it move. by @eugenebrown

Day 001 // Your brand is what people say about you when you leave the room.

Not your logo. Not your colors. Those are the outfit.

It’s what people keep deciding about you based on what you keep doing. If you’re late all the time, that’s your brand. If you’re always early, that’s your brand too. Nobody voted on it.

Your habits are your brand.

You already have one. The only question is whether you’re building it on purpose. by @eugenebrown
