This morning, we took part in the meeting of the Council of the European Union’s Working Party on Latin America and the Caribbean (COLAC), held in #Brussels.

Our Executive Director, Alberto Brunori @brunorialberto, presented progress on the 2026 work programme, as well as the initiatives planned for the remaining months of the year.

Looking ahead to 2027, he highlighted the importance of increasingly aligning the Foundation’s work with the implementation of the EU-CELAC Roadmap 2026–2027 and preparations for the next Summit. In this context, the Foundation aims to contribute to strengthening the bi-regional partnership by fostering dialogue between governments and actors from civil society, academia, youth and the private sector, helping translate political commitments into concrete cooperation initiatives.

We thank the #COLAC Chair and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the #EuropeanUnion for the invitation and the opportunity to share the Foundation’s perspective on the priorities and future of relations between the two regions.

------------

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Nicolás Albertoni (@nicolasalbertoni) to #Warsaw next week as our keynote speaker at the Business Networking Meeting: “Leveraging Polish engagement within the Global Gateway Investment Agenda and the dense web of trade agreements between Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe.”

Mr. Albertoni will present the key findings of the study he co-authored with Elizabeth Accioly, "Untapping the Global Gateway Investment Agenda and the Association Agreements between the European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean", launched a few weeks ago.

The study explores how existing trade agreements and the GGIA can help unlock further opportunities for cooperation, trade and investment between both regions.

"150 days of the EU-Mercosur Trade Agreement"

Yesterday, our Director of Programmes, Anna Barrera, participated in the discussion “150 days of the EU-Mercosur Trade Agreement: Opportunities, Challenges and First Experiences”, hosted by the Representation of the Free and Hanseatic City of #Hamburg to the Federal Government in Berlin.

The exchange brought together representatives from the European Commission, the Brazilian diplomatic service and the business community to discuss the Agreement’s provisional application and its implications, from its geopolitical and strategic significance to economic opportunities, Mercosur perspectives and businesses’ first practical experiences.

The discussion highlighted the importance of viewing the #EUMercosur relationship not only through the lens of trade, but also as a broader partnership with economic, geopolitical and regional dimensions.

Our thanks to Hamburg State Councillor Liv Assmann for the kind invitation, and to Jonathan Hackenbroich, moderator, as well as Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares, Ambassador of Brazil to Germany, Paolo Garzotti, European Commission, and Orlando Baquero, @lateinamerika_verein, for the insightful exchange. by @eulacfoundation

A few days ago, the EU-LAC Foundation was pleased to join the EU-CELAC Ministerial Meeting in New York for the second consecutive year, represented by our President, Ambassador José Antonio Arróspide del Busto.

The meeting marked an important step with the adoption of the new EU-CELAC Bi-Regional Roadmap towards the 2027 Summit in #Brussels.

We are particularly pleased that the Roadmap recognises the Foundation’s contribution to strengthening the bi-regional partnership.
