Hi, I’m Eva👋🏼 Lover of outdoor bathing experiences and sauna culture. This is my new landscape design project in Northern California ~ complete with concrete soaking tubs, copper shower, cedar sauna, redwood deck with integrated custom daybed and built in bench seating. This was an absolute dream job so I have to give a big shout to my wonderful clients that gave me full creative freedom❤️ and also very grateful to my amazing contractor who teaches me so much and makes everything flow smooth🙏 taken in Mill Valley, California by @eva_holbrook

ON THE MARKET | The Rocky Point Birdhouse

Welcome to a sanctuary where master craftsmanship meets soul. Handcrafted with devotion and attention to detail, visionary architect Doug Ackerman originally designed & built this as his personal North Shore residence.

Every material was thoughtfully chosen to weather the ages: resilient old-growth redwood exterior, soaring cedar ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and gliding doors are functional works of art, all custom-shaped by hand to frame the shifting light.

THE LODGE is a guesthouse deep in the forest on an 80 acre property surrounded by old growth Firs and Pines. I pulled inspiration from a variety of places~ a cozy après ski cabin, speak easy California gold rush times, Ralph Lauren’s ranch in Colorado, with a sprinkle of Scandinavian simplicity and cowboy twang. It was such a delight to shoot with @katalves she really helped me capture the magic of this special place! It’s so hard to look at your work objectively after so many months and years of planning, designing, making changes, site visits, managing tradesmen etc. Thank you to the 25+ people that worked on this cabin, I am so proud of what was created🧡 taken in Nevada City, California by @eva_holbrook

ON THE MARKET🌊 Welcome to the Rocky Point Birdhouse—a sanctuary where master craftsmanship meets soul. When a home is built with this level of impeccable detail, you can feel its energy. Handcrafted with devotion, architect Doug Ackerman originally designed this hidden gem as his personal North Shore residence.

Every material was chosen to weather the ages: a resilient old-growth redwood exterior, soaring cedar ceilings, and golden koa hardwood. The floor-to-ceiling windows and gliding doors are functional works of art, all custom-shaped by hand from redwood to frame the shifting light.

The main house offers a cozy 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath layout, while a detached ohana studio loft serves as a private escape—complete with an open air shower, toilet, and a vintage clawfoot tub for bathing under the stars. Tucked just one house back from the shoreline, the home grants you private beach access.

It has been an absolute honor to restore and steward this magical haven over the years. They simply don’t make them like this anymore!
