Child Abuse Prevention Month comes to a close today, but the work doesn’t.

The two nonprofits I support today are the same ones that supported me as a child! @ourkidstn @cacrutherford

Being able to come full circle and give back is something I don’t take lightly.

I had a bigger vision for this month that didn’t fully come together, but real impact still happened.

My team showed up, ran the @hammerdownroadrace 5K, raised money at the shop through pins and chocolate bars, and started some interior design work to help with spaces where children can feel safe.

This work has been part of my life for years. In different forms, at different stages. It looks different each year, but I’m grateful everyday above ground.

No one really talks about the moments that stop you in your tracks. The ones you don’t fully understand at the time, but carry with you for years.

A decade ago, I was walking through Hillsboro Village and saw blue pinwheels everywhere.

I stopped. Looked closer.
And realized they were for Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

That moment stuck with me.

At the time, I had never spoken about my own story. Not publicly. Not really at all.

But something about it stayed. Quietly. For literal years.

And now, it’s something we choose to talk about at Poppy & Peep. Every April.

Because prevention starts with something simple but powerful. Community.
When children and families are supported, safe, and seen, everything changes.

This month, we’re partnering with Our Kids Center & Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford County.

Both are organizations that supported me when I was a child. And now, it feels important to support them in return.
