Been working on this one for the past year. I applaud my clients dedication. The back as most people know is not a walk in the park, and although she clearly knows her limits and may not have sat for long each session, she almost religiously came in for an appointment every month and pushed through the pain. I have many tattoos on her, she heals them great and has always allowed me the artistic freedom to give her something cool. It’s a shame that in the end off all that work all the hrs that go into it, all I have to share is a photo. Doesn’t seem to do it justice. Thanks for sticking it out JG. taken in Union Transfer by @evanlovett

I don't post often, but wanted to share this photo my client’s friend took as we were completing her backpiece. I'll share the final results soon, once it's fully healed! We've been collaborating on this stunning artwork for some time, and I'm eager to show off the final result once it's healed. Life may have delayed the process, but it's always worth the wait! taken in Houndstooth Tattoo by @evanlovett

I was raised by strong and independent women: my three cousins, our three mothers (sisters to each other) all under the example of my grandmother, Theresa (or Grandma Terry as I called her), who lived a life full of all of the emotions. She felt everything, and with the joys of that also came more sorrow than I think anyone else could have handled. But, she did, and still managed to be kind, compassionate and above all taught me and my family how to “love unconditionally”. I talked with her about everything while on long drives all across the country and always visited her and sat with her as soon as I got back from any trip. She might not of thought it about herself but she was wise, brave, fiercely independent and sharp as a tack to the last moment. And although I may have been two feet taller than her there’s so much in her I looked up to. She passed 9/13/26 at 97 years old. taken in New Jersey by @evanlovett

I always get asked “what do you like more tattooing or painting murals?” The answer is “Both!” I don’t love one more than the other. What can I say, I’m a child of divorce. Hahaha but my favorite is when I can paint a mural in at tattoo style, on a tattoo shop. That said, who out there has a shop wall they want to see me to paint? Drop a comment, tag a homie, DM me. Would love to wrap up the season with a good excuse to hit the road and leave a mark. by @evanlovett

“ an ode to resilience”
This tattoo was done on my good friend @trash_panda215
It’s a characterization of Bear 122 or better known as “THE BOSS”

In his own words, here’s why Frank had me draw up this design.
“My love for bears started a long time ago, not sure why or when. A few years ago I traveled to Banff with my partner. That is where I learned about the lore of Bear 122, “The Boss”. Becoming slightly obsessed with this dude instantly, the second morning in the national park we set out with bear spray and nothing to lose and ventured into the wilderness. We saw coyotes, elk, birds, but no bears. We went way off trail to a point where we were standing on the side of a mountain with smells that were nothing less of a bear close to us. Though we never saw him, we felt his presence. I will never forget the feeling of worrying we would see him around a corner, stumble upon him during a nap or interrupt a meal. Bear 122 isn’t just the most badass bear to me, he is a time and place where I was exploring the wilderness with the woman I love, ready to take on whatever came our way” taken in Houndstooth Tattoo by @evanlovett

Meet Evan Lovett!
He started his apprenticeship at 15 and hasn’t slept since. He’s both tattooed and painted murals all over the world! But Philly is his home. Co-owner of Houndstooth Tattoo you can find him there or two stories up in a scissors lift painting a wall. Either way he’s probably working on something big! #evanlovett #evanlovetttattoo ##houndstoothtattoo #madetomeasure2026 taken in Houndstooth Tattoo by @evanlovett

The beautiful and resilient magnolia has been around since the Cretaceous period. That’s right, before bees existed! So, these trees evolved to rely on beetles for pollination. This is why modern magnolias still feature tough, leathery petals designed to withstand rough beetle mandibles. Thanks Sarah for letting me test out this design on the body. taken in Born This Way Body Arts by @evanlovett

Baphomet is a well-known symbol of occultism. It also represents balance and opposites. As a natural contrarian, I can’t help but love this symbol, what it represents, and how much its misrepresentation bothers people.

We surround ourselves with symbols, especially here in America. We attach meaning to them and bastardize them constantly. Some people build their whole identity around a symbol, whether it’s bars and stars, a sports logo, or two simple crossed lines.

To me, Baphomet represents knowledge, duality, and love of one’s self and the natural world.

Thanks Jesse for letting me flesh out this idea. No pun intended. taken in Houndstooth Tattoo by @evanlovett

Sometimes I design with a deep narrative or concept. Other times I just want to draw something cool. No hidden meaning, just a rad design that looks good and fits the body. Like this one.

That doesn’t mean there was no intention. Here I limited myself to three elements to keep it simple: thorns, flowers, and a Reaper. I used the thorns to direct the flow, the Reaper as the main focal point, and the flowers to fill space and add interest.

Anyway, thank you Joseph for volunteering to wear this one. Temporarily... but maybe forever 😉 taken in Houndstooth Tattoo by @evanlovett

When I drew up this lion design, it wasn’t with any specific intent or symbolism, I just love architectural motifs and saw something in an antique store that inspired it. Later, my good friend Olena volunteered to let me draw on her. When she saw that I wanted to do this design, she was overwhelmed with excitement.

For as long as I’ve known her (since high school) she spoke with pride and romanticism about her home country Ukraine, and her city Lviv. Admittedly I’ve never quite felt that way about anywhere.

As I drew on her, I learned that the lion is a significant symbol in Ukrainian culture. Lviv is known as the “City of Lions,” and features thousands of lion sculptures throughout its streets, representing the city’s emblem and history.
