I competed at the @nbaaustralia_official Nationals over the weekend in the Pro Bodybuilding and Pro Classic Physique divisions. I was excited for this show after coming off a win in the Pro Classic Physique and very close second in the Pro Bodybuilding at this show in my 2023 season.

As per usual the show ran great and all of the staff and judges did a great job.

Unfortunately we misapplied my tan and in combination with the lighting I ended up looking quite “muddy” on stage with a lot of obscured definition. By the time I fully realised I had already competed in bodybuilding. For classic we did remove a fair bit of colour but still ended up with a somewhat muddy look on stage in that division too. So unfortunately the result was a 6th of 6 place finish in bodybuilding and 5th of 7 place finish in classic.

I thought we peaked really well for this show too so it was definitely disappointing to not be able to fully display my potential and be more in the mix at a show where I was defending a title.

Having said that, I am grateful to have the opportunity to stand on stage and for everyone who has offered me support. Especially my beautiful girlfriend who assisted me all day and my mum who also flew down to watch and help me out. And of course my coach @nunez3dmj who is always in my corner with great planning and support.

And on another note despite the obscured definition I am happy to be able to see that I made some improvements to particular muscle groups in my off season relative to my 2023 season. Especially upper back, glutes, hamstrings, arms and delts.

I am now focussed entirely on my last two shows and continuing to nail as many things as I can for each of them. by @evansoooon

On Sunday I competed at the OCB Supernaturals in Ipswich. Once again I’m grateful for the opportunity to stand on stage for the third time this year.

I’m happy with the package we presented at this show, pushing the carbs a little higher and definitely coming in fuller and leaner than at the last show in July. I ended up placing second in both open bodybuilding and masters bodybuilding. Masters had three competitors and there were six competitors in open. Considering I normally don’t compete on this timeline until late September/October I’m quite happy with this look and placing.

A big congratulations to the deserving winner of both of my divisions and new OCB pro @teamsamali_ptandcoaching Arash looked great on Sunday and in my opinion stood out with the package he presented in terms of shape, posing, fullness and conditioning.

Thank you as well to @ocbaustralia who put on a great show. It was a friendly atmosphere, a good experience for the athletes, you could tell the promoter @lisablackburnofficial really cared about making the athlete experience as good as she could make it. The judging was thorough and of quality. And all the show helpers pulled through and did a great job for everyone on the day too.

And of course a big thank you to my support team mum, my girlfriend, my girlfriend’s father (who actually flew out last minute just to see me at the show), my coach @nunez3dmj and all of my supportive friends I couldn’t do it without you.

I have three more shows planned at the moment for this season with 12 weeks remaining. So for now it’s back to the grind! by @evansoooon

IFBB Naturals pro qualifier. I had a great time today. This was my second show of the season and was essentially a national level show with overall winners earning pro cards. As always I’m grateful for the opportunity to stand on stage with some exceptional competitors.

No placing for me today in either classic physique open or bodybuilding open. And I think having reviewed the photos that the placings and judging was pretty accurate and of good quality. I am happy with how I look for an early season show and I feel like I held my own but I just wasn’t as lean especially through the hamstrings and glutes as some of the other competitors who have likely been dieting for longer and perhaps were ending their seasons here or will be soon. I would also say I was a little flat. I got a decent pump but it was a little difficult to attain and I still didn’t have that “pop” to the muscles and you can see that through particular muscle groups like my chest. And that’s okay because we did run a fairly conservative peak (last week we literally ran no peak at all). I also need to sharpen up my posing and transitions. But for early in the season at a national show I’m pretty happy today all things considered.

Congratulations to all the place getters and winners today. You all looked very impressive.

Thank you to @ifbbproleagueoz for running a great show. As per last week all the IFBB staff, judges and helpers did an excellent job and made it a smooth and enjoyable process for us all. A special thank you to my girlfriend who has been super supportive despite being sick this week 😘. Thank you to mum who is always there for me. Thank you to my coach @nunez3dmj for your continued guidance. Thank you to the support I’ve received from all of my friends 🙏

Now to enjoy a diet break for a little bit and will be looking to improve on any lacking areas for shows later this year 💪 by @evansoooon

First show of the season today. IFBB naturals in Queensland (since I accidentally missed the Sydney show last weekend). Pretty happy with the package today for an early season opener. I really enjoyed getting back on stage for the first time since 2023. This one meant a lot with what I dealt with last year - if you know, you know 😉. It was a great day and I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to be back on stage again today and living my best life.

We walked away with a second place in open heavyweight bodybuilding (class of seven) and a third place in open classic physique tall (class of thirteen). I’m happy with how I managed the day and my look I presented at this point in the season. I’ve never been able to pull off doing a show so early on which owes mostly to management of the off-season and a leaner starting point.

A big congratulations to the gentlemen who won my classes today, they both looked awesome.

I haven’t competed with the IFBB before because they’ve only recently started promoting natural shows. And I was impressed with how the show ran. I think Tony, the judges, the backstage helpers and tanners did a great job of bringing it all together and making it easy for all of us competing. Thank you for all your hard work today @ifbbproleagueoz

I was also happy to run into a few of Australia’s great natural bodybuilding coaches @joeycantlinpt and @daniel.chapelle It was a pleasure chatting with both of you gents and I hope to see you again later this year.

Thank you to all my amazing support team. My beautiful girlfriend ❤️. My mum. My coach @nunez3dmj My friends and all of those who have reached out to say good luck. I very much appreciate you 🙏 by @evansoooon

Approximately two weeks from starting contest prep for 2026. I’ve actually made some of the biggest changes in my physique this off season in the last 3-4 months. And if I were to tell you what made those changes you probably wouldn’t believe me. It wasn’t more volume, it wasn’t more intensity. It wasn’t lengthened partials. I tracked my lifts as per usual. All I did was choose basic exercises, some of them sub optimal on paper but that felt good to me. And I focused on my body’s own feedback, on quality over quantity, on the details of my physique and not on what is currently considered “optimal” on paper by most in the evidence based sphere. I am really happy with the changes and looking forward to revealing a leaner version of this on stage later this year. by @evansoooon
