Day two at Himlung Base Camp.

Rescuers have recovered two more bodies, bringing the confirmed death toll to four. Twelve workers are still missing after Sunday’s avalanche buried the base camp under around 14 feet of snow.

The workers were preparing the camp and fixing ropes ahead of the autumn climbing season. No foreign climbers were involved.

The rescue team, led by Mingma G. Sherpa and NNMGA guides, reached the camp hoping to find survivors. The search is now focused on recovery as conditions remain difficult.

Our thoughts are with the families and colleagues of those still missing and those who have lost their lives.

Deadly Himlung Avalanche: Rescue teams have reached the avalanche site at Himlung Himal, where two guides have been confirmed dead and 14 others remain missing. The rescue is being led by Mingma G, who is once again at the center of a high-risk mountain rescue just seven weeks after leading the difficult search and recovery effort following the deadly Broad Peak avalanche.

It has been a heartbreaking year for Mingma G, and for Nepal’s mountain community, marked by repeated loss, dangerous rescues and families still waiting for answers.

For those who are interested in why we’re bailing on Manaslu.

I’ll share more videos in the coming days. We got to ski/ride from 6500 meters twice without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support.

Though we didn’t summit, Manaslu is a pretty amazing mountain to climb and ski. We’ll be back. @skylinemountainguides @ryanmitchellyt

Nepal produces .4T of carbon per person per year, and the average American produces 14T. Yet Nepals economy, according to a World Bank report, could lose up to 7% by 2050 due to climate impacts like the recent #NepalFlood that has left 1,377 people dead and another 5,130 missing.

How does the global community respond to Nepal’s demand for #climatejustice ? We asked pioneering author and thinker Bill McKibben - full interview on our YouTube channel, link in bio. by @everest.live_

What does #climatejustice mean for a country like Nepal? Can we expect to see more events like the deadly #NepalFlood in the near future?

We sat down with @billmckibbenvt , the man who, literally, wrote the first major book on climate change in 1989. Together, we tackle these questions and much more.

Today, September 7, Nepal observes a national day of mourning for the victims of the devastating Bhote Koshi–Rasuwa flash floods.

On August 26, a sudden surge of water, ice, rock and debris swept through Rasuwa and down the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems, destroying homes, roads, bridges and infrastructure and taking countless lives.

As of the latest official updates, more than 1,300 bodies have been recovered, while nearly 4,000 people remain unaccounted for. Search, rescue, recovery and identification efforts continue.

Across Nepal and at Nepali diplomatic missions abroad, the national flag is being flown at half-mast today in remembrance of those we have lost.

At Sherpa Legend, we stand with every family and community affected by this tragedy.

May those who lost their lives rest in peace.
