Too often, gaps in sex education and access to accurate, culturally relevant information have left people without the knowledge they need about HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and living with the virus.

Black communities deserve systems that make comprehensive, stigma-free HIV education accessible to everyone — in schools, healthcare settings, and communities. When people have information they can trust, they’re better equipped to make informed decisions about their health.

👉🏾 What’s one thing you wish sex ed had taught you about HIV? Tell us in the comments.

Your HIV status is personal health information. Knowing your status can help you make informed decisions about prevention, treatment, and care. And when testing happens in spaces rooted in respect, understanding, and support, taking care of our health can feel a little easier.

👉🏾 What would help make HIV testing feel more comfortable and supportive? Tell us in the comments.

Health information can come from many places— healthcare providers, family, friends, social media, or the people we trust most. For Black communities, those trusted voices can play an important role in how we understand HIV, make health decisions, and seek care.

There is no "wrong" starting point. What's most important is having access to accurate information, trusted resources, and care that respects you.

👉🏾 Tell us in the comments: Where do you go FIRST?

National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is an opportunity to recognize their contributions while continuing to support HIV prevention, treatment, and care that is affirming, respectful, and responsive to individual needs.

👉🏾 What can we do to make HIV care more affirming and inclusive? Share your thoughts in the comments!

U=U is more than a scientific fact—it’s a message that can transform how our health systems and communities talk about HIV.

When a person living with HIV takes treatment and maintains an undetectable viral load, there is zero risk of sexually transmitting HIV. But making U=U a reality for more people requires systems that make HIV care and treatment accessible, affordable, consistent, and free from stigma.

It also means ensuring accurate information about U=U reaches the people who need it. When health care, education, and community systems lead with facts instead of fear, they can help dismantle misinformation and stigma while creating more supportive environments for people living with HIV.

👉🏾 Who needs to hear U=U? Share this post and help spread the facts.

Everyone deserves healthcare where they can be themselves, especially when it comes to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and well-being.

For people who identify as bisexual, that means care without assumptions or judgement about who they love, how they identify, or what their health needs may be. Creating space for open conversations about sexual well-being helps feel heard and supported.

For Black people who identify as bisexual, affirming and culturally responsive care is an important part of health equity.

👉🏾 Share to help amplify bi visibility and affirming care.

Stigma can create barriers long before someone reaches a doctor’s office or accesses the care they need.

In this Couch Conversation, Rev. Tierney C. Ridley (@tierneycarlynn), a preacher, strategist, and advocate for liberation and wholeness, explores how reducing shame and stigma around HIV can create space for more honest conversations about education, advocacy, policy, and access.

Creating the world we want requires addressing the barriers that limit access while also challenging the stigma that keeps people from speaking openly about HIV. When those efforts meet, we move closer to the health equity and liberation Every(Black)Body deserves.

Sometimes the questions we’re too embarrassed to ask out loud are the ones we most need answers to. Sexual health conversations can help us make informed choices about HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and our overall well-being.

For Black communities that are disproportionately impacted by the HIV epidemic, creating spaces where we can ask honest questions without shame or judgment matters.

👉🏾 Drop the question you were too shy to ask—we might help answer it. 👀
