Our 🗣Oral History Preservation Kit🗣 is now available for rental using a Pay-What-You-Can model for Ottawa residents.

Oral history preservation is the collection and study of storytelling and culture using sound recordings (it is also more than that but lets keep it simple for now 👀).

Maybe you have a project that could benefit from using our kit? Anything goes! We’re excited to adapt this program to people’s needs.

Memory Workers Lab: Preserving Your Personal and Community History

Our workshop at @objectprojectartbookfair was guided by 3 questions: What story needs telling? Where does that story live? And how do you want to share that story?

Thank you to Melanie, Jason and the rest of the book fair team!

One of the many projects being featured at OPABF! On March 29, join artist + archivist @__bencompton, founder and director of @everyonearchives for
the workshop Memory Workers Lab: Preserving Your Personal and Community History ⏳👯‍♀️✍
//
This workshop will dive into the practice of documenting, archiving, and sharing the stories that you hold closest. What does it mean to preserve history? What tools can help you store and organize your precious photos, journals, and objects for safekeeping? What are some first steps when taking on an archiving project? Participants are encouraged to bring items from their personal collections and connect around the shared experience of doing 'memory work'.
//
Free to attend, more info at objectprojectartbookfair.com.

🚨New equipment alert🚨
We’re putting together an Oral History Preservation Kit!
It contains a good quality sound recorder and some extras. This is useful if you want to preserve:

-the stories of a grandparent
-lullabies, family songs etc.
-community history
-a conversation with your toddler
-lots of other things...the world is your sonic oyster

Hoping to have this ready for some time in the new year. It will be available for Ottawa residents to borrow via a Pay-What-You-Can model by @everyonearchives

We had our first archiving workshop last night! It was great–thank you soooo much to everyone who came out, it means the world. Hopefully many more events to come...

Last couple slides are of objects from the fieldhouse that we rented. Those of you who have spent time in community centres know the experience of searching through cupboards for tape or paper cups or whatever event supplies you forgot and finding all these interesting things that reveal the life of the building.

reach out if you have project or event ideas! info@everyonearchives.ca / @everyonearchives taken in St Luke's Park by @everyonearchives
