Coach Nick Pham working with our athletes on an Alternating Linear Ankle POGO to prepare the foot and ankle for sprinting.

We often spend a lot of time talking about knee lift in sprinting, and while it matters, it’s rarely the limiting factor for most athletes. A bigger opportunity is foot-to-ground interaction, specifically how well an athlete absorbs, loads, and redirects force through the foot and ankle. This drill helps build that interaction before asking the athlete to express it at higher speeds.

Better interaction with the ground → better opportunity to produce and redirect force → better sprinting. by @evolhp

Try this one on your next track day! Details below.

Repeats at 400m or 200m, staying under the cutoff for each: 400m under 1:30, 200m under 0:45. If you fall outside the cutoff, you drop to the shorter distance for the rest of the session. Goal is 8 reps total across either distance.

Lately I’ve been leaning into auto-regulating everything, or building in cutoffs so I’m not just chasing junk volume, especially on quality-based sessions like this one. Give it a try! by @evolhp

5.03 → 4.69 40 in 2 months. Here’s why it worked:

Dr. Yessis’ 1x20 training system is GOAT’d. But understanding what your training actually needs to accomplish is even more important than the system itself. For me at that point, that didn’t mean chasing PRs or offseason gains. It meant getting faster and sharper for my Pro Day.

Bottom line: “Keep the main thing the main thing” Training should support the goal, not become the goal! by @evolhp
