☀️ Hot Weather Warning from Evolve Housing + Support ☀️

As temperatures continue to rise, we are reminding everyone that hot weather can pose serious risks for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

For those without a safe, cool place to shelter, extreme heat can quickly lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke. Access to water, shade, and appropriate support can be limited, making hot weather especially dangerous.

At Evolve Housing + Support, we are working with residents, partners, and local services to help ensure vulnerable people receive the support they need during periods of extreme heat.

We encourage our communities to:
💧 Stay hydrated and check in on neighbours and vulnerable individuals.
🌳 Seek out cool, shaded spaces wherever possible.
📞 Contact local support services if you are concerned about someone sleeping rough or struggling in the heat.
❤️ Show kindness and compassion—small actions can make a significant difference.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Together, we can help protect those most at risk during hot weather.

Coming Together Through Community

Following the energy, collaboration and shared sense of purpose at our recent Staff Conference, it's timely that we now look ahead to October and the theme of**"Honouring Our Communities."** This year's Black History Month theme celebrates the people and relationships that strengthen, support and connect us.

One of the strongest messages from our conference was the importance of community. Whether it was colleagues sharing ideas across teams, learning from one another, reflecting on our values, or hearing directly from residents, the day reminded us that the greatest impact happens when people come together around a shared purpose.

At Evolve, community is at the heart of everything we do. We see its power within our organisation through the support, expertise and commitment of our colleagues. We see it in the resilience and achievements of our residents. And we see it beyond Evolve through the partnerships we build with local authorities, community groups, businesses, funders and supporters to create opportunities and better outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

The resident session at the conference was a particularly powerful reminder of why this matters. Hearing firsthand about the difference that support, belonging and positive relationships can make reinforced the importance of working together to help people move forward and thrive.

Throughout the month ahead, we'll be celebrating the contributions of our colleagues, residents and partners, while continuing to reflect on how we can strengthen the communities that surround and support us. Because whether it's within Evolve or across the wider sector, positive change happens when people come together.

Black History Month 2026 | Honouring Our Communities

This October, we join people across the UK in marking Black History Month, embracing this year's theme, “Honouring Our Communities". The theme celebrates the individuals, networks and communities whose everyday contributions help shape, strengthen and support the lives of others.

At Evolve Housing + Support, we know that strong communities change lives. Every day, we see the resilience, talent and achievements of the residents, colleagues, partners and volunteers who make our work possible. Black History Month provides an opportunity to celebrate these contributions, reflect on the experiences of Black communities, and continue conversations about equality, inclusion and belonging.

Throughout October, we'll be sharing stories, resources and opportunities for learning and reflection across the organisation. But our commitment doesn't stop at the end of the month. At Evolve, we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture all year round, where diverse voices are heard, valued and celebrated, and where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

By honouring our communities, we recognise not only the achievements of the past, but also the people making a difference today and helping to create a more inclusive future for us all. 💙

This week colleagues from across Evolve Housing + Support came together for our Staff Conference, a day dedicated to learning, collaboration and celebrating the incredible work taking place across our organisation.

The conference provided an opportunity to share ideas, reflect on our values, strengthen connections across teams and explore how we can continue improving outcomes for the people we support. One of the most powerful moments of the day was hearing directly from residents. Their honesty, experiences and reflections brought home exactly why we are here and the impact our work has every day. It was a timely reminder that everything we do is focused on supporting people to move forward and thrive.

From inspiring discussions and shared learning to plenty of laughter and great conversations, there was a real sense of pride, energy and purpose throughout the day.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and helped make the conference such a success. Together, we're building an even stronger Evolve for our residents, colleagues and communities. 💙

🌟 Last week's Youth Mental Health Day highlighted something we see every day: a safe home can make all the difference to a young person's wellbeing.

When a young person has somewhere safe to live, they can begin focusing on their recovery, confidence and future goals. Through our learning, employability and community programmes, we help people develop skills, connections and a renewed sense of purpose.

But we can't do it alone.

Every donation helps us provide activities, programmes and support that improve wellbeing and create brighter futures for young people facing homelessness.

Last week marked Youth Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health.

For many young people facing homelessness or housing insecurity, the challenges of anxiety, isolation and low self-esteem can be overwhelming. Having a safe place to live is vital, but so is having support, encouragement and opportunities to build confidence.

At Evolve Housing + Support, we work with young people every day to help them develop independence, connect with their communities and create brighter futures.
