COBA mourns the passing of Correction Officer Latisha Boone, a proud member of NYC’s BOLDEST, who served our Department with honor since 2013 and was assigned to SOD.

For more than a decade, she faithfully dedicated her life to keeping our city safe and proudly served alongside many of her fellow correction officers, who became her extended family.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Officer Boone’s family, friends, co-workers and the entire SOD family during this incredibly difficult time.

May she rest in eternal peace.

You will never be forgotten, CO Boone. by @execboardmemberharris

On June 28th in RESH C.o Smith PREVENTED an attempted suicide and on June 30th Williams also PREVENTED an attempted suicide as well. At 0730hrs Delegate Harmon accompanied both officer to the commissioners office as they were told to report first thing this morning. It’s a honor to see both officers giving these awards for their heroic acts and to stand along side them this morning for their recognition! I thank Commissioner for showing them that they matter and their hard work didn’t go unnoticed. Good job guys! And good job Delegate Harmon! @quanas__world taken in Rikers Island by @execboardmemberharris

I met Lewis when I arrived to the West after the closing of VCBC. we would always say hi and bye to each other, just as a respect and acknowledgment without being introduced. One day she ask for my help and as a delegate I assured her I would. Through communicating about what it was she needed help with, we began to talk when we greeted each other. Then it became laughter, then it became relatable issues that we both faced as women. Then it became the need to speak more often. When I worked with her in the specialty clinic, all we did was laugh and talk. She bragged about how great her kids were as I did mine and we started to just see that we related in so many ways. Her release to God isn’t sudden to me, but it wasn’t what we both were expecting. Man…. This position sure brings ppl in your ln your life for a reason, and I truly found my reasons with Lewis. Great listener, great support system that was needed at work, and great officer! Forever you will be in my heart sis, your time to serve God will be more rewarding. 💙😢💔 by @execboardmemberharris

Today was about the women…! Thanks to Dep Mack who oversees the academy. Putting together a celebration for the women in corrections that are next up! It was a honor to speak to them today and listen to others give their experiences. I’m sure we left them with a lot to take heed to. Today was a great day!
