Last week, Gwen traveled through Germany and joined the German National Tourist Board’s US Advisory Workshop 2026 as a panelist. 🇩🇪

Bringing together industry leaders and US travel advisors, the workshop was a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas and insights on the evolving landscape of luxury travel to Germany, and to connect with many amazing partners and colleagues along the way.

A huge thank you to the organizers at @germanytourism, as well as all the hosts and partners who made these special days possible. We’re excited to take these conversations and connections forward!

Prost from Munich! 🥨🍻

Gwen traded the office for the Wiesn this week, and she’s taking notes on everything from best tents and pairing the ultimate giant pretzel with a 1-liter Maß of beer to tying a Dirndl bow just right! (Fun fact: Bow on the left means you're single, bow on the right means taken! 😉)

We take "boots on the ground" tour research very seriously around here. Want to join the fun next year? You know who to call!

Today was the day of discovery, and we learned all about the Zeppelin (what we think of as a blimp). We started at the @zeppelinmuseum with a really fascinating behind the scenes tour. We learned about the history and even got to walk through a mock up of the Hindenburg.

Afterwards, we headed to the airfield to see @zeppelinflug.de in action, along with a tour of the hangar. Just a super cool way to spend the day!

Austria, you were extraordinary. 🇦🇹

From the grand elegance of Vienna to the charm of Salzburg and finally the peaceful beauty of the Tyrolean mountains, this was a trip that beautifully blended culture, history, food, music, and wellness.

We stayed at the legendary @sacherhotels throughout the journey, with experiences that went far beyond the typical sightseeing. We had private art viewings, immersed ourselves in the fascinating history of the Habsburg dynasty, and experienced Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss in an incredibly intimate setting, accompanied by a string quartet playing Mozart.

In Salzburg, we explored the city through the lens of The Sound of Music, took a cooking class led by an opera singer, and continued discovering the incredible musical and cultural heritage of the region.

And then, the perfect ending: the Tyrolean mountains. Three beautiful nights devoted to wellness, relaxation, and taking in the spectacular alpine landscape.

What struck me most about Austria is how effortlessly it works for both couples and families. There is so much to discover for the culturally curious traveler, yet there is also plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the scenery, food, and wellness.

Vienna. Salzburg. The Alps.

A pretty wonderful combination. 🤍

Austria has my heart. The cities, the food, the culture, and most of all, the people.

The best part of this job is introducing others to Austria’s magic. Last week I hosted six @brownell_travel expert travel advisors across Austria, in partnership with Sacher Hotels in Vienna, Salzburg, and Seefeld (outside of Innsbruck), and with the Vienna Tourist Board.

It’s one thing to know a place. It’s another to watch someone fall for it the way you have. Here are a few little snippets from our journey.

On the way to Austria, I made a little deviation to spend a day in Sarajevo. It was my first time in Bosnia and I was very pleasantly surprised with the city. I had a beautiful fruit plate as a welcome to the hotel and then walked around with a colleague to take in some of the sites. I love the mixture of Austra Hungarian architecture meshed with remnants of the Ottoman Empire. Cute little shops. An adorable little tea room where we shared some elderflower lemonade (addicted). Of course we also had to see the Latin Bridge, the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which kicked off World War I and changed Europe forever. And then we headed up into the hills where we had dinner with a view. Definitely worth the time and definitely want to come back!
