A little Sound of Music magic in Salzburg! 🎶🇦🇹

This aunt and niece trip was all about seeing the places that made the movie so special, and Salzburg did not disappoint!

They stayed at the beautiful Hotel Sacher Salzburg in the heart of the city, explored the famous filming locations, visited the castle, and even enjoyed a singing bus tour around the city’s most famous sights.

They also made time for a little Austrian culture with the Rupertikirtag fair, shopping, an apple strudel-making class (and, of course, tasting the famous Sacher-Torte!), plus a day trip to the picturesque village of Hallstatt. ❤️

Such a fun mix of movie memories, local experiences, and special time together!

This is what I love about travel — creating experiences and memories that last long after you get home. ✨

Today was the day of discovery, and we learned all about the Zeppelin (what we think of as a blimp). We started at the @zeppelinmuseum with a really fascinating behind the scenes tour. We learned about the history and even got to walk through a mock up of the Hindenburg.

Afterwards, we headed to the airfield to see @zeppelinflug.de in action, along with a tour of the hangar. Just a super cool way to spend the day!

Adventure Day 2 brought us to Lake Oeschinensee and traveling to Grindelwald. The journey up and hike to the lake was nice, but turning that last corner and seeing the beauty of the area was indescribable. We rode the alpine coaster more than once, rented a row boat and enjoyed ice cream while taking in everything. 100% would recommend and will definitely be sending clients here! 🇨🇭

I really had low expectations about going to Oktoberfest ever! I don’t drink beer and I just thought it would be a crazy raucous group of very drunk people. Yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to attend with @rupert.geiger from @simplymunich and it was amazing! All of my preconceived notions are gone! I’d come back in a heartbeat. Beer drinker or not🤩

Austria, you were extraordinary. 🇦🇹

From the grand elegance of Vienna to the charm of Salzburg and finally the peaceful beauty of the Tyrolean mountains, this was a trip that beautifully blended culture, history, food, music, and wellness.

We stayed at the legendary @sacherhotels throughout the journey, with experiences that went far beyond the typical sightseeing. We had private art viewings, immersed ourselves in the fascinating history of the Habsburg dynasty, and experienced Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss in an incredibly intimate setting, accompanied by a string quartet playing Mozart.

In Salzburg, we explored the city through the lens of The Sound of Music, took a cooking class led by an opera singer, and continued discovering the incredible musical and cultural heritage of the region.

And then, the perfect ending: the Tyrolean mountains. Three beautiful nights devoted to wellness, relaxation, and taking in the spectacular alpine landscape.

What struck me most about Austria is how effortlessly it works for both couples and families. There is so much to discover for the culturally curious traveler, yet there is also plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the scenery, food, and wellness.

Vienna. Salzburg. The Alps.

A pretty wonderful combination. 🤍

Reach out if you’re ready to experience Austria!

Austria has my heart. The cities, the food, the culture, and most of all, the people.

The best part of this job is introducing others to Austria’s magic. Last week I hosted six @brownell_travel expert travel advisors across Austria, in partnership with Sacher Hotels in Vienna, Salzburg, and Seefeld (outside of Innsbruck), and with the Vienna Tourist Board.

It’s one thing to know a place. It’s another to watch someone fall for it the way you have. Here are a few little snippets from our journey.

Vienna! “The streets of Vienna are paved with culture ...” Karl Kraus, I couldn’t agree more! This city oozes culture and wonderful music ‘round every corner!

We were serenaded privately at the Belvedere Museum (big Kiss to @exeterintl for that one!) - wined & dined at Vienna’s finest vineyards and salons & giggled with the piglets and chickens at a sweet farm close to town.

We stayed at the gorgeous Sacher Wien where the line for their famous cake wraps the block … but guests receive one of their own or back door access to take a few home. See stories for the photos and videos of my extremely comfortable room.

Pro tip: the Sacher has views of the Opera House or the Albertine Museum … and smack in the middle of everything. Their signature martini was amazing and you must order the weiner schnitzel! My favorite gift from the team = a monogrammed pillowcase … it’s the lil things! 🩷💯

Fun tidbits - the farm uses vending machines to sell the eggs and other farm to table goodies each day. Brilliant!

And - the very tasty Austrian bubbily wine is will take you down by “sturm” if you sip too fast!
