Announcing my next documentary feature film! KID WITH A MOVIE CAMERA.

This film has been in the making my whole life and it’s been the main project I’ve been living with the last couple years.

Kid With a Movie Camera is built from decades of archive footage, interviews, old homemade videos I shot as a kid, animation, and re-creation sequences. It’s a deeply personal attempt to understand how a video camera became my escape, my lifeline, and eventually my way of confronting the evangelical faith I was raised in.

It’s a subject that’s been close to me for as long as I can remember—one that’s quietly poured into my work over the years. It took time to realize, but this is the theme I now understand I’m drawn to exploring, and the one I feel compelled to keep confronting through my films and art.

I’m incredibly grateful to the people who helped bring this into existence. Huge thank you to Bogdan Darev and Ben Johnson for making this film happen (through @filmabeestudios ), @cscurrier for helping me realize it as our DP. @narimeow our amazing marketing lead at Filmabee and the entire team who poured themselves into this. Truly couldn’t have done it without you.

Releasing later this year.

Festival announcements, screenings, and more to come.

Stay tuned.

Please follow our official page which we just dropped yesterday for updates on the movie. @kwamc.movie

If Genesis is supposed to be a literal account of creation, we have some serious questions.

It’s worth asking: Is Genesis describing actual history, or is it an ancient creation myth written by people trying to make sense of the world around them?

Did the Bible Get Female Anatomy Wrong?

Deuteronomy 22:13–21 describes a law in which a woman’s virginity could be challenged, with potentially deadly consequences.

The supposed evidence? Traditionally understood as a bloodstained cloth from the wedding night.

There’s just one problem: Not all women bleed during their first sexual intercourse, and there’s no reliable physical test for virginity.

So why would an all-knowing God give a law involving a woman’s life that relies on such questionable evidence?

Does this sound like divine wisdom, or ancient men writing laws based on their limited understanding of women’s bodies?

The Cornell 7 isn’t an isolated case.

This isn’t about claiming the Bible directly caused what allegedly happened at Cornell. It’s about asking a harder question: Where do men learn ideas about women, power, sex, submission, and entitlement?

For thousands of years, religious texts and institutions have existed within cultures that treated women as property, placed men in positions of authority over them, tied women’s worth to virginity and sexual purity, and expected women to submit to male authority.

Those ideas don’t necessarily disappear when society changes. They can survive in our families, churches, fraternities, relationships, and institutions.

And when abuse happens, another pattern can emerge: protect the institution. Protect its reputation. Question the woman. Minimize what happened. Find reasons to excuse the men.

None of this means Christianity creates sexual abusers. It means we should be willing to examine the ideas and systems we inherit, including religious ones, and ask whether they contribute to cultures where male entitlement is normalized and women are expected to carry the consequences.

If we want to dismantle systems of abuse, we have to be willing to question the beliefs that helped build and sustain them.

🎙️ New episode out now: Did We Choose to Stop Believing?

When someone leaves Christianity, they’re often told they chose to walk away—that they rejected God, hardened their heart, or simply decided not to believe anymore.

But can you actually choose what you believe?

In this episode, we talk about the difference between wanting to believe something and actually being convinced it’s true, why wanting faith isn’t enough to make it happen, and what happens when the reasons you once had for believing no longer convince you.

Did we choose to stop believing, or did we simply realize we no longer believed?

“Why don’t you guys talk about other religions?”

We get this question all the time. Here’s why.

I wrote a book! 📕

UPDATE: BETA READERS ARE NOW CLOSED. Thank you so much to everyone who reached out! I’ve received more than enough volunteers and won’t be accepting any additional beta readers at this time. I really appreciate all the interest!

I’m looking for beta readers who would be interested in reading a roughly 60,000-word philosophical memoir about growing up deeply immersed in evangelical Christianity, the experiences that shaped my faith, and the questions that eventually led me to no longer believe. It’s part memoir and part an exploration of questions about suffering, hell, divine hiddenness, and whether we can actually choose what we believe.

I’d really like a mix of perspectives:
Christians, former Christians, atheists, agnostics, and anyone in between. You don’t need to agree with me.
Thoughtful disagreement would actually be helpful.
I’m not looking for proofreading so much as honest feedback.

If you’re genuinely interested, send me a message.
